Am I getting a runaround?
Am I getting a runaround?
I had placed my order for a TL with Navi and was given an estimated delivery date of 5/8. I called the business manager 2 days later and was told that I would get the car at the end of May. After mentioning to the mgr that my order said 5/8, he said my salesguy made a mistake. I called the salesguy the next day and he said he'd check and was sure the business mgr was wrong. Well, 2 hours later it turns out the business mgr was right. My salesguy claims he didn't know that TWO other people were ahead of me for this car! He said they were trying to swap with other dealers for 2 of these cars (lots of luck). Now I'm thinking if 2 other people are ahead of me for the same car, equipment and color, how could I possibly get this car at the end of May? My guy claims that 2 cars were inbound to them that matched this description.
Anyone have any ideas? Needless to say I'm very disappointed.

Well consider there are a bunch of dealers in the Tri-State area that they can swap cars with, both cars on the lot and inbound for delivery, as well as their dealership's inbound orders, it is definitely possible. But it is total BS that they told you one date and changed it.

Yeah, try Rallye Acura in Roslyn, Long Island. So far, so good. Haven't gotten the car yet but they have been very direct, honest, and patient. And they work hard to get what you want and make the whole experience a good one. Weird that Westchester Acura did that to you though, my Uncle is in car loans or someting and he said the one in Westchester was the one he recommended.
I totally agree. My dealer told me May 6th was the latest the car would arrive and I would be PISSED to no end if he changed it to one 3 weeks away. See if he can find you something, if not, see if you can find yourself something. If you can't find anything, you'll have to wait or settle for something else
Did you get a good price?
If so, stay with your dealer and get them to throw in an extra accessory or two ...
If not, I agree with the others, take your business to another where it's appreciated!
To me, I don't think a month is too long to wait for the NAVI versions.

Nathan, I like that. Kind of a 'performance guarantee'. Lots of luck finding a dealer that would agree to that!
Raven, I did get a fair price and that's part of the problem. We all know what a drag it is going from one dealer to another and that serves as a disincentive to start negotiating with other dealers....but if I have to I will.

Ken7,
Those guys are the more honest dealers that I have worked with. It would be in their best interest to get you in your car today if they could do it.
The Navi's are coveted by dealers so it is possible that no-one will swap with them

You see, once the car dealership has your deposit, they consider you to be "off the market" (i.e. you are essentially a hostage, and won't be shopping at any other dealerships). Some of them will abuse this position of advantage by selling "your" car to someone else while making you wait for another one to be built later on. Of course, the other slimy way to play it is for the salesman to "forget" that there are other people on a waiting list ahead of you until he has cashed your deposit check.
These kinds of games are why I never "order" a car. You'd be amazed at how quickly a car will become available for someone who has not yet given the dealership any money - just ask jrogers345! In fact, you might end up getting a car that was originally ordered for someone else.
