Am I getting robbed from the stealership?

Brought 'er in for the 105k mile tune up.. they just called and I needed 2 motor mounts (front and side) they were broken.

She says I'll be about $1600 with tax.... oh, and they wanted $500+ for front brakes and rotors I told her to go screw on that.

Is that $1600 for only the motor mounts or is that including the 105k timing belt maintenance as well?

if the mount and timing belt service are 1600.00 that sounds somewhat right. now i would tell them to screw off on the brakes! But i would also have done the timing belt and mounts myself!

Bring it to a Honda dealer and it will be significantly less.

are they brembo frt brakes/rotors? if so thats about right...

generally speaking, acura dealer labor rates are higher than honda dealers since its "luxury" although i do know of some honda dealers labor rate being higher, depends on the market i guess.

The "service adviser" called an hour after she informed me about the broken mounts and it wasn't my car, a different TL that had gone in for a timing belt as well

Anyway - she ended up giving me 10% off for being an idiot so I was out the door for about $1025 with tax. They wanted to do a flush on the power steering fluid, clutch fluid, brake fluid, etc because it was "dirty" but even she said it didn't really need to be done..

Its a 6MT so yes they are Brembo brakes, but I'll just have em done at a smaller shop more locally.

If you don't need to turn your rotors, replacing the brake pads on the 6MT is one of the easiest things you can do if you're not really handy. That right there will save you on a lot of labor charge.

I've considered it. I did the rear brakes and rotors with my buddy -- but due to my current living situation (no garage) and the beautiful New England weather this time of year, its worth it for me to just pay a shop to do it

For some reason i always thought that after 100K miles, a car is no longer allowed to be serviced by a stealer but rather a good indy; of course unless the service needs a special equipment
