Aluminum Accents Easily Damaged?

I've heard that the aluminum accents are very easy to damage. In fact, I read on one forum that a guy was in a hurry to put his seat belt on and accidentaly hit the belt clip on the aluminum trim on the center console and it put a dent in it. It cost him over $80 to replace. If this is true, I hope Acura replaces these things with something more durable. Are you supposed to put passenger's seatbelt on for them so they don't damage your car?

Yes, I saw that. Aluminum is soft, so yes, it will dent if you hit it hard enough. But I don't find that it is difficult to fasten the seat belt without doing any damage to the trim. My passengers have not had any problem with it either.

.

My dealer accidently dented mine, he said to watch out because it dents easily, but he just removed it and put a new one in.

I think they should end the aluminum trim before the seat belt buckle area.

Thanks for the heads-up. This is good information to know. Luckily I haven't dented anything and to be honest, banging against the trim, it's hard for me to believe it's that easy to dent it. But I guess it is...

I'm more worried about the aluminum on the front edge of the hood - stone hits will have that pitted pretty fast. Chrome is a lot more durable.

Ya I had the dealer do the interior protection on my car and when I got it back mine was dented and scratched. Looks like it was from some one who had keys hanging from their hip. Then leaned over and dented and scratched it. They are replacing it for free. After he said he was going to fix it I wanted to test to see how easy it was to dent and scratched. So I took my key to it and it scratched pretty easy but the denting wasn’t so bad.
