Aftermath of a Blown Transmission

Got really lucky on this one. Acura of Lynnwood really "went to bat for me" apparently and covered 100% of parts and labor. Car runs fantastically - smooth shifts and all.

A few questions I have though...
- Does anyone know if a transmission needs to be "broken in" - no heated parts right?
- Also, I noticed NO MORE problems with cold starts! I'm not really sure how a new transmission could "fix" a potentially bad starter? It starts up just right.
- Another thing I noticed: upon initial start up...the engine sounds..."more tame". Uh...how? Engine tone is "brighter" and a bit higher - cleaner??? lol

Now I have to fix my freaking motor mounts and my rear end...slowly but surely...

^ still debating but i still have to replace the bumper and lower lip kit. the money is well worth the adjustment in price i get back from the car.
i'm still not sure though - i really want that freaking ASM TL-S, but it's been BEAT to death. KBP...dunno how i'd be able to pull that off. baahh...

How'd you blow the tranny? Was it a similar failure that the 2G TL's suffered from?

hm...not quite too familiar with the 2nd generation transmission failures - all i know is that a handful of them went bad. essentially what happened to mine - it just went out; wouldn't go into gear one morning.

I'm glad it worked out for ya. It could've been a real kick in the balls had they not covered.

your starter spins the flywheel....so with everything tightened down it spins smoothly.

There could have been a weak ground connection that they attended to when they installed.

I'm not too sure about a break-in period for a tranny. Do you have a REMAN tranny?

.. and for the engine??

remanufactured tranny.. I think you're right.. I'm not sure they put in all new internals but they definitely reuse the case. I have about 3k miles on my reman and it's been good so far.. watch out for lag in clutch engagement in first and reverse. Glad to hear your rolling again..
