I already have the injen RD CAI. I might purchase the AEM just to see if there is a difference.

They just released it yesterday. I purchased one online from autocarparts.com and it is being shipped at the end of the week.

Here's a link to the site I purchased from (pretty good price).

There is a store on Ebay thats selling them for 190.00...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WD1V

The store has like 8500 positives, so it should be safe. I will probably purchase one from there...

You will be wasting your money. They're essentially the same product.

I am still trying to figure out how the AEM intake gives 19 horses while injen and k&n managed only around 10. Just adding an intake adds 19 to the TL...which already has a decent cold air intake to begin with? I dont buy that...I think there might be more behind that dyno chart than we know.

I've always liked the AEM CAI, I had one in my 2002 accord coupe and I am strongly thinking about perchasing one... but it's really a toss up between AEM and COMPTECH ICEBOX... does anyone have any opinion which 1 is better of the 2?

AEM CAI vs COMPTECH ICEBOX..??

Has anyone placed an order yet? If you go under their company site, and they don't even have an 800 number to contact... only email...

I'm just going to wait and see what people are saying about the intake, before I make a decision whether to swap out my INJEN.

Jeremy,

::AEM latest news::
I just exhanged an email with http://www.importperformance.com/store/21-513
and this is what they wrote back...

"We are expecting for AEM to release the stats info, when they release the intake
Which is suppose to be anyday.. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me. Best Regards, Tim Piscitelli www.autocarparts.com"
and if you check the website, the AEM is still NOT AVAILABLE YET...

anyday could mean next month.... so to me, if AEM comes out before COMPTECH ICEBOX, then I'll buy it, otherwise, I'll get it from COMPTECH.

AEM sucks... do a search for 'aem sucks' and you will see why.

go with injen or comptech (if it ever comes out).

For people with the injen CAI could you tell a difference in performance when you installed it?

With your Injen, is there a difference in sound? If so, what does it sound like?

That Dyno info better be at the wheels!! I heard stock the TL barely throughs down 200 ath the wheels. If someone would like to volunteer to test and dyno this I would be much more likely to get it. Does it void the warrenty?

Uh, you heard wrong! Most dynoes I've seen were around 230 whp, which is right at the 15% mark of drivetrain loss.

There have been some threads in the past regarding the 'growl/whistle' of the cold air intakes. both injen and k&n users have complained/noticed this noise.. i have the k&n intake and if the windows are up its not too bad, but most of the time while on the throttle (exception being full throttle) the sound is kinda stupid. maybe the aem will be better, probably not. i am looking for a dyno to use to do both before and after gains with my magnaflow exhaust and with and without my cold air k&n intake. hopefully this will happen sooner than later.

AEM CAI does not "Suck", I've had it in my 2002 Accord and it worked like a charm. NO whistle noise but rather quite loud (the way I like it ... however, the thread originator mentioned the AEM is out, but it's actually not... I am not a fan of INJEN (nothing wrong with them), a buddy of mine installed a CAI in his corolla S.. it sounded like crap.. maybe it's the car itself... I figure... if whoever comes out with their CAI first between AEM and COMPTECH, i'll it..
I just ordered COMPTECH CATBACK EXHAUST, sports spring, and rear sway bar today.. pretty excited for this project... getting my car ready for the spring

My TL-S sounds like a MONSTER when I hit VTEC w/ the AEM CAI. It does not sound like a ricey 4-cylinder w/ an intake. It is just a mean, raw sound that will scare any bystandards near you. I personally think its awesome, and I definitely felt power increases on the low and high end. It does, however, have a whisle at ideal that is louder when you first start the car (esp in the cold). I highly recomend the AEM CAI, but I'm going to keep my 04 TL as the tame TL and not get it.

Latest news, AEM has a dyno chart
http://www.aempower.com/pdf/dyno/21-...Acura%20TL.pdf
based on the past experience, I would have to agree with 2kTL that the AEM CAI does have a MONSTER sound when hit the gas pedal...

AEM Rules

I just traded my RSX S for a 2005 TL 6 speed A-spec aero kit and rear decklid...

My RSX finished with 206.7whp with 150lb ft tq and ran 14.015 in Arizona heat. Stock the car put down 167whp and I added an AEM CAS and it immediately made 185whp. The additional power adders I have were Comptech 4-1 race header and Hondata #4 flash program with DC Sports TCS exhaust.

I have had an AEM on my last three cars which were the RSX, 2001 Prelude SH, 99 Civic Si. It always performed as advertised and sounded great. No question!

If you want any points for reference please check clubrsxcom and search my name for dyno charts.

I purchased my AEM for the TL 2 weeks ago from autocarparts.com and they initially sent me the CAI for 96-00 Civic DX but I emailed Tim and he had me a new one sent out which just arrived today 3/3 - I will dyno my car this Saturday at Streetflight.com and then I will put the intake on and re-dyno to provide you all with absolute results. If someone beats me to it that is fine but I will do my part to help you guys get the knowledge you desire. I'm betting this intake will outperform everything on the market and if Hondata comes out with a program you will see 300whp with just CAI, headers and computer upgrade.

As a background I have raced Hondas for over 8 years - I do not plan on racing the TL - maybe I will make a pass or 20 but not over do it.

I previously held #2 spot in 2003 for fastest ALL-Motor RSX S in the U.S. - this was with just bolt ons and ecu upgrade - no race header at that time.

Pimpplaya - Many here are aware that I have been skeptical of the AEM's claims. I WANT them to be true but since the unit has experienced SO many delays, I've become ummm, jaded. Thanks for doing the leg work and providing this forum with your results. Sounds like you have better access to a dyno than most of us for before and after results. I take my hat off to you and look forward to the results. PS - Please post them even if they don't show huge gains. We would all still be interested. BTW - Does the dyno shop you use have some way of generating the wind effects at speed (i.e. a big arse fan)?
