Adventures in Houston Traffic..
Well it happened. On the week of my 06 TL turning 1 year old I was side-swiped and pushed into a curb. Happened durning morning rush hour at around 7:30 am. The interesting thing is that the woman who hit me acted like she didn't speak english but as soon as I said I was calling the cops that cleared right up....LOL At any rate the left side of my car from the front bumper to the rear door will have to be fixed. Out of all of this the major part is the accident destroyed two of my RonJon Legends (Ron dog I hope you have some 19" liquid graphite in stock). I would have taken pictures but I took the car directly to the dealer after the accident. Well lets see how long it takes to repair 4k worth of damage and to replace my wheels.

Ugh... I hate this damn city. One out of 4 people driving don't have insurance or a license; Read: illegal.
One motherfucker jumped a median and smashed the front of my <2 month old TL-S. I was going about 25mph at time of impact and there was more than $10,000 damage.

6SPDTLNTX, does the lady know how much the damage is yet? Houston has crazy drivers from reading what happened on the highway in traffic! I'm scared to know what the accidents are like when cars are flyin.

LyfeIs and SlimTL, the accident happened on Westheimer right before Eldridge.
I am not sure how much damage she has but I spoke to her insurance company (Nationwide) and they have accepted that it was their clients fault. The funny thing is that the woman's husband argued that it was my fault and I hit her from the back! Nationwide told them how could that be when the report states that it was your fault, the witness says its your fault, and the damage on the car shows that it is your fault!
gauravp123: I am going to the shop tomorrow to get pics.

Damn, that sucks. I work near Westheimer and Beltway so I drive in that area everyday. I try to avoid westheimer by taking richmond or westpark.
Oh well, good thing is that you're compensated and no one was injured.

Oh and btw, I'm dominican so this has nothing to do with racism.

The Houston Police Department no longer dispatches patrol cars to accident scenes unless there is >$10000 worth of damage or someone was injured in the incident.
If those two criteria are not met, the only option within the city limits are to take any available witness statements and contact information, photographs of both vehicles and the scenario, or just pray that the at fault party doesn't contest the liability.
Pretty shitty policy, but Houston estimates that there are on average 300 minor accidents per day within the HPD jurisdiction.
I figured this all out first hand after a woman behind me decided to use my car to stop from 40 miles per hour. In case you're curious, it happened on Briar Forest just inside of the Beltway.
My only suggestion would be to file a personal injury report. Even if you are not experiencing pain, it would be in your best interest to go to your family physician and get checked out. Most likely you're physician will recommend precautionary x-rays. Take them. Pay for them out of pocket and collect all of your receipts.
Insurance companies are willing to do A LOT to keep you from filing suit against their insured. This includes settling all of your medical bills PLUS a healthy sum for your "inconvenience/pain, etc.".
Best of luck to you!
No Insurance
Well, I don't drive with insurance on my 04 TL. Why? Because it's a salvaged title and my insurance will make me pay the price to insure a 04 NON-salvage TL. After a wreak they will determine the actual cost of the vehicle as a salvage. I tried to get the amount of what they would pay out in a total loss but they said they would have to determine it at the time of an accident
So, here I am in Houton, TX with no insurance. I just take the $$ and dump it into a money market account. I can only hope that I am not in a wreak...not the wisest choice but the choice I made. I am insured though for an accident, just not my ride, since most insurance companies cover you riding in other cars as a "guest driver".
