Acura Tlc Question

I got my car in March of this year, does TLC last as long as you own the car or does it expire at a certain point??

It is covered for the full length of the warranty: 4 years/50,000 miles.

This one was hard to find. There is a booklet in your plastic leather pouch titled "Owner's Guide to Acura Total Luxury Care". The warranty period is stated in the middle page next to the staples (there are no page numbers here to make it easier for me), top left hand corner, titled "Acura Roadside Assistance".

Thank you Ron!!! I appreciate your response. I also looked for the info in that booklet you mentioned, but could not find it relating directly to the warranty, but I'll take your word for it.

Another question for you:

The flat tire I got a few days ago. Acura Roadside Assistance called me back to tell me I was in a restricted area and would have to pay for the expenses out of pocket for the service. So I paid 31.80 for the guy who came and helped changed my tire.

TLC should reimburse me for this right? I sent them a letter today about it, but on the phone, they don't tell you if they will or not. Do you know what their policy is regarding this?

About the warranty:
Acura Roadside Assistance is a 24-hour nationwide emergency road service that includes special features such as Acura Concierge Service, a source of special travel benefits available to you throughout the term of your 4 year/50,000 mile Acura warranty. The Acura Roadside Assistance program is furnished at no additional cost to you.

I admit this is rather vaguely worded, and you have to read it a dozen times to get the full meaning, but I interpret it to mean that the Acura Total Luxury Care program is good for the life of the original warranty.

About the reimbursement:
In the description of 24-hour roadside service, it says they will dispatch a unit to change the flat tire. There is no mention here of what to do if the unit is not allowed access to your car. There is also no mention of any procedure for reimbursement for charges incurred because of this situation.

In addition to ACS, you should contact your service manager and see if he will put in a warranty claim to reimburse you. They may already have a procedure for situations such as this, or they can try to get an authorization for it.

In the Just Sign and Drive - No Cash Outlay paragraph, it says "in most instances you will require no cash outlay for the services performed". This may be their way of telling you that you are stuck with the charges, but you should still make every attempt for reimbursement.

So the "Total" in TLC really is partial? I've kept my AAA membership active as a back-up. It's a nominal fee worth the peace of mind.

It could still be "total", depending on what happens to tl_soso. I hope he gets reimbursed and the "total" remains true.

The other day I had a flat tire, I called Acura TLC and they did nothing for me. They said since it was on a Saturday, and all the dealers were closed I was on my own. I inflated the tire at a convenience store, drove to a "tire dealer" and found out the tire was ruined due to the location of the nail.....they put my spare tire on for me(no charge) and I was out in less than 15 minutes. IMO, Acura TLC is worthless!!!!!

That's awful. I guess I'll keep my AAA as a backup

AAA > TLC it seems

I've had AAA for ages. Never let me down and it's dirt cheap. From what I've read with other's experiences with TLC it was a smart move to keep it.

AAA... american automobile association, the biggest of it's kind, you've never heard of it? http://www.aaa.com

and TLC... Acura Total Luxury Care (playing off an acronym of tender loving care)... is a similar program offered by Acura for the warranty period, but supposedly it isn't as fast-responding or wide-covered as AAA.

Hey Ron - well, I did what the customer service rep at the TLC # told me to do. I attached a letter, the receipt and info about the incident/my car and sent it off to the ARS claims dept. Let's see what happens now. And yes, it would be a shame if I did not get reimbursed, because when you buy the car, the dealer tells you you're completely covered, etc. Its only 31.80 - but its more about the honesty and ethics here.

That's a step in the right direction. Keep us posted.
