Acura TL engine covers

Why does Acura feel the need to completely cover the engine? whats the purpose, noise reduction?

its aesthetically pleasing. Shows the true beauty under the engine, the main focus. I think it looks a million times better with the plastics around it

They're really quite silly IMHO. The only owners (like me) who actually look under the hood are those who do their own maintenance/repair. The rest could care less. For me, they just add a step to every procedure (ok two if you put them back on). Granted, today's engines aren't as pretty as say, a 1960s 6-pack motor, but that doesn't mean you have to (attempt to) "pretty them up" by covering them with heat-trapping plastic.

I'd rather have it covered up, looks better. When I do my own maintenance it takes 2 seconds to take it off anyway.

It's a thing that most "luxury" brands do, including Acura if you consider us Luxury.

Look at BMW, Lexus, M-Benz, Infiniti, Audi, and any other known luxury brands. Pop their hood and you will see.

Call Acura stupid if you want, but they are not the only ones that do it. It gives the engine a clean look. If you don't like it than rip it out. Problem solved.

^This.

At least Acura isn't as bad as some manufacturers. you can still see some parts of the engine. Open the hood of a Lexus and all you will see is a big flat silver plastic piece surrounded by a bunch of big flat black plastic pieces.

It just personal pref, I would leave my on and it easier to clean up just wipe the plastic down and you are done versus these guy spending hours detail the engine bay.

^uhh, I spray that shit with degreaser. I bet if you looked under your covers, your engine would be horrible looking.

again, it keeps the heat out. performance wise, keep the covers off.
if you're a girly kind of man and want it to look pretty, please keep them on.

here's another CLEAN shot:

I know how to clean them off but I just saying that I am kinda lazy now, I had detailed my Accord engine bay before and it is fun but I only does that during summer months, during the winter I don't even bother with it, plus I just bought the car so yeah it must look horrible underneath it but I will wait for summer moth to clean it and put the cover back on. I agree with you on the concept that heat get trap in the cover but really how much more HP it will provide you with that cover off? 5-10hp? 20hp? even with the cover off where the heat gona escape? the heat still getting trap underneath that hood anyway. Beside the heat concept I would like to call it personal preference, it is your car so do whatever you like to it. There is no need to attack other people calling "Girly kind of man". I am sure that other owner likes to keep their cover on because its their car.

you are must be one of those people "got to make it faster, more POWER" relax bro it is FWD a family sedan after all it not gona and never be fast. If you want fast then get STI, Evo, GT-R or Supra, M3, IS-F. I don't know why you are wasting time and energy trying to prove how fast you are with a FWD family sedan. Wow that must be really has alot of POWAR, please get a life.
