3.2 liter SOHC Vtec(variable valve timing electronic lift). Seperate fuel injectors controlled by a programmed direct ignition system. 11.0:1 The entire thing is computer controlled, even the gas pedal is not directly connected to a computer but rather a sensor, which then goes to the computer, which controls the fuel injection and air intake based on multiple sensors throughout the engine.

Mechanical fuel injection? Are you kidding? I have a buddy who had a 1976 Alpha Romeo with mechanical fuel injection.

You must be old school!

Thanks. I am on the 21st page of my persuasive essay about the TL for my father, although it is double spaced. That was what I know about the engine in a nut shell, i could go into detail. I even know they saved 17 pounds by putting the intake and exhaust where it is. As for getting the car, hopefully some time over the summer, and yes, I will make him let me drive.

I used a library Emac(which I cant stand btw) during study hall since I dont have any homework cause vacation is next week.(run on)

Better yet tell your dad that the piece of crap taurus or its merc cousin, the sable was one of the 10 worst cars he could own... Do not tell him that adding your name to the insurance policy on a tl as an occasional driver will double his premiums. And those 45 series tires ... do not tell him that he is destined to sustain at least one side wall damaged tire about every 15 months living in this area... Dam how I loved the 495 and route 3 construction. I went through 3 windshields and 2 tires in 2 years.

Your kidding right? your writing an essay to convince your father to buy a tl? Sorry, but that just seems sort of pathetic.

If essay --> dad buying tl --> kid driving tl as soon as kid gets licence --> mad hunnies

I don't see how that sequence of events is pathetic.

It's pathetic to write a 21 page essay for anything. I never wrote one longer than 11 or 12 pages in college.

What's sad is the fact that his dad doesn't seem to be able to understand why he should get the TL from his own devices and his son has to write a 20-some page essay to prove to him why he should. To me, buying the TL versus its competition seemed like a no-brainer...am I the only one?

IT took me maby a total of 5 hours...AND its double spaced. Listen, if you grew up with your LAWYER father driving used fords and minivans you'd want something nice too. I live in the fricken OC of the east. We have an audi, 2 saabs, a lexus, and a benz on my street. In my driveway we have this ugly ass 97 ford taurus beater staring me in the face with its fucking cataracts(headlights are all hazed, not intentionally). Thank you stealth. BTW, I dont know what colledge and highschool you went to but our junior thesis has to be at least 15 pages. Newton has the most competative schools in the country.

no you're not. at 11:1 your not getting a turbo or supercharger. you may want to use your knoggin some, do some googlin around and find some info on why forced induction motors need lower compression ratios to function properly.

or, you can ask the nuggets at Comptech how well their supercharger is doing....

you can always wait until lower compression pistons come out

another einstein we have. what do you mean by wait? Wiseco and many others can drum up a set of pistons in the amount of time it takes you to squat a load into the bowl. you just need to open your wallet and know who to call, and be willing to tear down your motor.

...and btw, there are other ways to drop compression without installing new low compression forged pistons.

Or you could get higher octane fuels and wont have to worry about knock. There are so many other power ups you can do before that supercharger.

i think you guys should buy a used old car like a crx or civic or prelude to gain knowledge and lessons and keep it for 2 years, then go or let your parents buy you a 40k car. i would make my parents to pay for my school if i could. oh wait you guys still in highschool.

i'm assuming the kid can barely afford the pump gas, where's he gonna get $4/gal ultra-high octane fuels ??

You don't have to explain why you are using this method. Mad props to you for exerting the effort. Anything that will make a person your age read, write and do research is a good thing. If you were my son you might end up driving the POS Taurus daily.

I assumed you were doing a paper for school. Just wondering though, how you doing in your real classes?

Oh my god

You do realize you'll be pushing your exhaust gasses through pin-holes (figuratively speaking). The exhaust manifold is cast into the head, so you'll have a hell of a time getting rid of the exhaust gasses as quickly as you need for a turbo motor.

You need to do a lot more research before you thing about turbo'ing that motor, especially with such a high compression ratio. Talk to All-motor or BlueCLS6 about their cars and for somme guidance on turbos and our Acuras.

Hey now.

Anyways... Just to let you know how this came about, so you will stop hating on my thread.... I took my dad's turbo charger for his F-350 Turbo Diesel... and i took my TL... When i pulled up the owner of the turbo shop looked at my car, and asked me if I was getting a Turbo for it... And i told him No... that i was here for my dad. He asked me if the TL was fast, so (as i do with alot of people) we went for a ride... I have an 04 6MT, Anthricite... Nevertheless, he was impressed, and he started asking me all these questions about the engine. I told him what I knew, but i never thought of even changing the engine untill he told me that if theres and engine out there, it can be turbocharged. (I never thought of increasing horse power, because i already run through tires ever 12,000 miles) So anyways, he brought my attention around, so i told him i would get the information. Sorry for pissin you off...

I might not even get a car till I am 18. My father said since I always tell him to "floor it(hey, old ladies are passing him)' that he doesnt no if He can trust me alone in a car. But to clarify things, I wont have a car purchased for me and may not even get the taurus, but on dates and stuff I can probably use the TL. When I am 16-17 I will probably buy a used beamer for 1-3k(I will drive it to the ground, I know they require a lot of upkeep, but I wanna say, ya, my first car was a beamer). As far as my classes in school I am in all curric 1 classes, I do worst in english and spansish(B- and C+) but get A's and B's in everything else, including research papers. I can not afford gas, that is true. But a solution to knocking would be to use higher octane gasses.
