That's just how you roll, huh!??! you have a SPARE HID kit! lol.
Anyway, generic being ebay? What K are they, because they look pretty close to what you have for lows.
For my stock fogs...i have the DRL module on it's way...but I'm going yellow for that. I think a yellow DRl will look pretty sweet. That' my taste though!

LOL i know. it was cheap enough so i figured might as well hahaha.
generic being my friend pulled it out of a brown box, opened the package and just had it all in there. i didnt see a name, just pictures of cars with bright headlights lol

Lol...gotcha. Well some other members look like they went with the raptor kits, 6k and they'll be installing over the weekend so I may hold off till they install theirs! We'll see though.
For 40 bucks...it's hard to pass up!

Hey Rockstar, weren't you asking in another thread about the fogs interfering with your CAI? If that was you, do you have any pics of that side? Any issues that you ran into? I'm only asking, because that's what is stopping me from doing this mod right now. Install looks good though!

I got mine about 4 months ago...so I'm fairly new too! But I'm down for a little mini meet to talk and whatnot!
About the CAI, no, I don't have one. But I did respond that I think I've seen others with the CAI clearing the foglight without a problem. The rear of the foglight sits about a 1/2 inch back from the plastic IIRC so unless the filter is ON the plastic...you're golden!

I really don't think the glass will melt, to be honest. Isn't glass part silica?
Anyway, yeah...w/plastic, you don't have to deal with road rocks cracking it...but you do have to deal with it getting very hot, and possibly developing a brown burn mark. I used to get it with my Laminix yellow fog film. Were the bulbs you got 80W or 55W? Once I redid the switch with the relay w/the 20amp fuse in...it popped with the 80 watts. That leads me to believe that 80 is not safe on the stock wiring. My bulbs get hot as heck too though...even the stock ones.

I think...if you're willing to go to the expense anyway...why not see what happens. Maybe they're meant to take the heat and 5 years from now they'll still be fine. My advice: wait it out. If they melt, replace...if not...use the funds for something else!

Oh and think about what the bulbs are made of themselves......the bulb will burst before your housing does.

if glass does have a melting point (which it does), then its not "never" in a technical sense. Xenon arc discharge temperatures reach 17,000' F within the quartz tube as well, albeit for mere fractions of a second (the metal salts within the capsule do "burn").

I did not say that glass will never melt, I said that the glass of an HID housing will never melt due to the HID light.
I do not believe for a second that a small headlight ballast will be able to provide enough power to a short-arc so that it will raise the temperature of a glass lens enough to melt it. Sure, it could get very hot in the housing for a few seconds, but since it is not a sustained temp. rise it wont affect the glass.
anyways, back to the thread.....

I once melted glass with some turpentine and 4 magnifying glasses.

Btw...just ordered some raptor HID's from DDM tuning...figured for 40 bucks, I really couldn't go wrong! Also orderded some D2S bulbs to replace the stock one. I like stock, but I'm HELLBENT on the fogs and headlights matching!
Plus, there are so many TL's out there...figured this would set it apart a little bit. I got 6000K so just a hint of blue. I think that'll look sweet on NBP.
