In July my driver side ball joint broke off while going 65mph on highway. Car did not hit anything as lower control arm guided car. All new font end suspension work done on both sides. Prior to this, AC worked fine. Now when putting gage on AC line, it goes straight to red indicating a problem with system. I notice that the compressor does not turn on when AC is on. I don't think it is anything major but looking for some advise on where to start? Beginner when it comes to mechanical work but love my TL.
"Straight to red" meaning what; low pressure? High pressure? And did you connect to the low pressure line, or high pressure line? Was it a set of manifold gages that reads both low and high pressures simultaneously? Or just the single gage connected to a can of refrigerant?
The A/C pressure switch is designed to save the compressor and not operate if the pressure isn't in the required range. So is there a leak which is why you have little to no pressure? Or is the pressure maxed out?
What is the pressure? Are you using gauges that read both low and high sides or one of those that come with the bottles and just read green and red?
The gauge I have reads low which is white, filled which is green & see instructions which is red. I am not to familiar with mechanical work, I apology. Thanks for the response.

Or it could simply be the A/C clutch relay.
My apology but I am not to familiar with mechanical work. At this point, I need to know where to start without taking it to the dealer as It worked fine prior to accident. Thanks for the reply.

Maybe it's better that you just take it to a AC shop and have them take a look/diagnose
So I swapped out the AC relay with another relay and AC worked just fine. Went to auto parts store and purchased new AC relay and the problem has been resolved.
Thanks Victor - AC Compressor Relay was bad and cost $11 to replace.
