Ac Cold?

Living in Florida it is dam hot and I was wondering has anyone experienced the fact that the ac not blow really cold? I've had it on low and it seems like it needs quite a bit of time to kick in...

any feedback?

Have the inside circulation on, this could help.

I live in SoCal and whilst not as humid as Florida the Temp has been as high as 110 already where I live. I have found the AC works really well and has the car cooled down really quick. My guess is that the humidity may make it hard on your AC as it has to cope with all the moisture aswell. Do you find that there is a lot of water coming from your AC when you stop and park. If not then you may want to have it looked at by your dealer. As I said no problems here in SoCal.

TX Heat

I found that the AC blows plenty cold BUT takes longer than usual to reach really cold temps. I also found that the floor board vents don't blow very hard. All my comparison are VS my old '02 TL-S.

FYI...

Certainly seems cold enough to me and it's pretty hot here in Miami as well. I generally keep it on 77 degrees/low fan for the drive to and from the office.

I find the TL's AC to be the coldest out of all the cars I had owned or driven before.
It cools the cabin really fast.

I would say that it's a mixture of humidity and interior color. My old car was fogging when I was driving in Orlando. I had a tan interior too. I felt the air was cooler when I set the fan lower. I guess this allows the air more time to cool better in the condenser before it blew out of the vents. With my TL, the dark dash and seats tend to retain more heat. The quick cool down trick is use the FOB to open all your windows to let some of the heat out. Then close all the windows except leave the back windows open a little bit and turn on the A/C and recirculate. The cabin should cool down to a comfortable level fairly fast, then switch to auto if you prefer.

Hope it makes a difference. Doesn't hurt to get the car checked out by the dealer while your still under warranty. Have them check the freon to make sure there's not leak in the system.

Set it for the coolest temp initially, or run manual mode and keep the fan speeds up - A/C's heat exchange efficiency is best when the fan is at its highest speed. AUTO systems cycle the fan speed down to keep things quiet.

I find it a tad on the cold side. On hot days, I set it on auto around 74.

No problem with cold air here. I run mine on "auto" with the temp set at 72 degrees. Of course another thing that might help is tint. If you don't have any and your car sits out in the sun much, it will take it proportionately longer to cool the inside down. If you don't have it, tint is a must!

I've also experienced this when getting in my car after it has been in the hot Florida sun. I guess it doesn't help that my TL is not tinted yet and I have ebony interior.
I noticed if I turn off auto and put the air so that it circulates from the inside (like rets suggested) instead of the default which is to bring it in from the outside it cools much faster.

Hope this helps!

88 degrees and humid today in an ebony interior - A/C set to auto, 68 degrees, rear vents on, too (like it cold, baby) - cooled car in 2-3 minutes. Better than last ten cars... .

Mine is cool enough, even for SoCal weather, but its not quite as good as my 99 Accord. It seems like I need to set it about 2-3 degrees cooler than my old car to achieve the same effect.

But, for all I know, my other car's climate control was out of calibration and this one's right on!

I'm in Ft. Lauderdale. We haven't had much rain this summer (unusuall) and the humidity has not been high. It is between 30-40% most days. Just comfy but warm. It has gotten up into the 90s in the afternoon. Most people don't realize that South Florida has never had a recorded temperature over 99. We don't get the seasonal spreads in temp like northern cities. In fact, on many days, Chicago, Philly, DC, NYC, is hotter and more humid than we are here.

However- I have a black car with camel int and good tinting. My Climate control stays on 75 degrees/automatic for both driver and passenger. My TL is garaged and is comfortable by the time I'm at the end of my driveway. If I have to park in the sun, I use a spring-open sun shade in the front. The camel interior reflects what ever heat gets past my 32% (combined) tint on the sides and 15% rear. The car is just warm when I get in- not baking like an oven. It takes about 2-3 mins to cool down to comfort level. I rarely can hear the fan over the radio.

I credit the light interior and the excellent tint. The garage helps, too.

If you have Auto on, the recirculation button is pressed automatically while the car cools down. Once the desired temperature is reached, the recirculation button goes off automatically. You can watch the light on the button go on and off.

Don' set it too cold. We all know about shrinkage.

I just keep it on auto at 75 and it's plenty cool for me during these recent days with temps in the mid-80's.

I think there is a large variance in the temperature calibration. On my 96TL I set the temp at 73, but on the 04TL I set it at 70 for the same comfort level. In this thread, comfort zones range from 68-77. If I set mine at 73-75 you can feel the heat coming out.

I agree. But then again, why should we expect the interior temp gauge to be any better than the exterior one?
