About to join the family

I've owned a 2004 Acura TL 6speed Manual with the A-spec lip kit before. Then I sold it and gone through 2 other cars.

I"m in the market for another car. I found the rare White/Black combo.. Auto... Navi...

Asking price is $16,999.. With 69K miles. 2006.... I'm going to try to talk them down to $15,000 out the door(with all the fees)...

Just wanted to say hi on here. I"m going this Saturday to check out the car. It's at a Mercedes dealership and I was told it was just traded in on Sunday (today is Thurs)

I'm pretty excited about the find, Lets just hope all goes well and I'm back with Acura!

I was also told that it was just serviced... I'll have to check on what the service was and what was done. For the PRice/Year/Mileage and the assumption that everything is good with the vehicle. Do you think it's a good buy? I've been looking for this color combo for the longest time!

if it fits all your wants, I say it's a good deal. Esp if you can negotiate down in the 15k range.

Thanks!

yeh I figured If i can get them down to 15K out the door. I'm sold... Just because a buddy of mine just bought a 2005 white, auto, navi, beige interior with 5x,xxx miles for $15K out the door.

I figured thats a good gauge as to how much I should pay for this one, considering it has a little bit more mileage.

Plans for it...(I always say this when I get a new ride).. I'm not going to do too much..
But for sure getting the Aspec lip kit again.

I don't know man, the color combo + navi sounds good but are you don't want a 6-speed again?

I'll go and test drive the auto on Saturday. Like I said, I had a 6speed before and it was great, but traffic in my area has become bad to HORRIBLE. I believe that Auto would be a better choice for me right now, plus my fiance can't and won't drive stick. I tried to coax her into learning, but she wants nothing of it. haha.

Anyways, when I go on Saturday for the walkaround are there any specifics to look for? Check out? Questions?

Some things I figured to ask...

-What service was recently done, what specifically was done?
-Hard copy of the carfax report
-Warranty options?
-Finance options?
-3-day return policy? (I know some dealerships have this. I want my mechanic to take a look at it before fully committing to it 100%)

Anything else?

hopefully they'll have the maintenance paperwork. With a trade in like that or a non-honda dealer you cant bet on it.
-Carfax if possible if you cant get paperwork definitely.
-check for dash cracking. I've heard it to be pretty rampant on the east coast, but mainly in the south east.

the rest i dont know since i got mine through a private sell.

I actually have web access to the carfax. Seems to be ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. Had 3 owners. The last owner just traded it in 4days ago.

Check to make sure the VIN is on every body part. If not, may be a sign of an accident. Looks for signs of repainting. Good luck with the deal.

Awesome. Thanks guys for the tips. I'll check out the cracks or unusual noises. I'm also going to get a contingent offer b/c I will be taking the car to my mechanic for him to check it out.

Anything else to note ?

Thanks all!

Where "SHOULD" the VIN be located?

they should be clearly visible just by looking at the inner part of the panels. for example when you open the trunk u should see the vin sticker for the rear bumper. if you can't see it, then you should ask the dealer if he can point it out for you to make sure that all the parts are oem

Well. It's a No go....

The car looked GREAT. Interior and exterior very very nice....

BUT

#1) Rear driver side passenger seat belt was torn... At first they sales person said that well, its a used car..(wtf)... but at the end said they will throw in the replacement for it...

#2) Around 45+ mph there was a wierd whisle hollowing noise coming from the engine. Only when I stepped on the gas it would make this sound.. Very noticeable. They said I could take it to my mechanic and have them check it out and if it was something major that needed to be fixed the dealer (Mercedes Benz ) would pay 50% labor, 50% parts... I said no. You should pay 100%... They didn't want to do that...

#3) They wouldn't budge at all from the Asking price....

So I walked... Oh well, The search continues!
