About to buy a TL. Chime in plz!
Ok, sooo I've been lurking here for the past several months trying to put all the pieces together about what I want, and how much I want to spend. Long story short I've been aggressively looking at TL's and I finally think I might be closing in on something. . . . but I was hoping I could ask the hive for some advice!
I have a deal with Acura of Seattle for a 2005 TL with about 55k on it for 16.5k out the door. I've been holding out for 15.5k but since their starting price was 21,900 this (my best guess and week worth of debating) is about as low as they're willing to go. The problem with the car is that it looks to have been driven pretty hard. Two of the rims had road rash, the interior leather isn't in the best of shape (wrinkling) there was a 8" noticeable scratch on the back bumper, and even after their 150pt inspection when I test drove it the check oil light was on.
NOW, the plus side is this car is a pre-owned cert. acura so it comes with the remaining year on the 7 year 100k warranty. Also the dealer promised he'd fix the scratch on the back bumper, check oil light, and see what he could do about the leather. All and All engine looks clean, clean title/car fax, 1 year bumper to bumper warranty, and 55k out the door for 16.5k.
I've been looking for a while and this seems to be a pretty good deal. Sorry don't have pics and the link to the dealership makes the car out to be MUCH cleaner than it really looks.
Any suggestions, comments, questions, concerns? This is going to be the biggest purchase of my adult life and I'm about as stressed as I am excited! Sorry for the long post but any advice would be helpful!
Thanks in advance, Micah

Sorry I should have asked it was a check oil light (same as check engine??) and only reason I say it was driven hard is because of the condition of the interior. I have been actively looking for months now and this is one of the better deals I've found.
On face value is it a dec. deal?

Wrinkled leather in a TL is pretty common. Curb rash on rims happen to the best of us as well. Hell, I cringe every time my wife asks for the keys to the TL because I know she isn't as mindful when parking as I am......

i bought my 05 NBP, 30600 miles, great condition inside and out, non-navi for 16079 out the door.
if your car has navi, it's a good deal, if not it's still a good deal, but not the best

Here is the link sorry I can't make the pics hot!
BTW they're giving me 3.2% financing! No Navi (I prefer my google phone) BUT it does have the warranty.

I just got my 05 6MT w/ nav last July for 15k. It had 58k miles and in great shape plus extended warranty. Only thing was it had hail damage.. which still pisses me off to the day and am trying to figure out how to claim it on insurance where we never get hail!

If you want, before you buy, send your prospective VINs to me at hondacuraworld@aol.com . I'll run them through interactive and examine the warranty history of them, and see if there's been any issues through the life of the car.

Wow, really appreciate all the feedback guys! I've been looking for a TL for quite a while now. Even the private party sellers around here want more than 16.5k (after tax) than the Acura dealership is offering.
I'm also not a big fan of the Navi. I know I'm a novice here and probably won't make many friends speaking such, but I assume my google phone with google maps and street view can better handle my Navigation needs.
Again thanks for all your insight! You guys have been really helpful from the get go!
BTW OEM, the Vin number on this car is (19UUA66265A070356) I'd love it if you wouldn't mind checking it out for me, I have a copy of the carfax which looks clean, but my understanding is those can be misleading.

Go Navi
Even if you don't think that you will use the navigation screens, I'd go navi for the better radio controls and voice commands and increased resale value. I'm in California and I got my 05 ABP with navi from a private seller for 15800 or a touch over 17000 OTD and it has 51000 miles on it. A car that has been "inspected" and still has problems would give me pause.

I didn't know a car with the check oil light on can be certified.
Well, then again maybe it came on after the "certification". But either way, I'd the the dealer would take care of that before even showing the car to you.
If they take care of the bumper scratch and check oil light, I don't think it's a bad deal.
