6MT TL should be right on par

ive raced an s2000 with my old 6MT and it was pretty even. ive read post of others racing M3s and are righ on them, now im a believer.

cars:

1991 240sx.
sr20
upgraded ball bearing t28 turbo
3" downpipe
3" exhaust
oil cooler
NO BOSST CONTROLLER (stock boost at 7psi)
couple other things.
no tune

2004 s2000
stock execpt i have a hardtop no soft top

2002-2004 M3 (dont think it was stick)
black with limo tint
mods unknown.
19-20 inch rim dropped.
exhasut looked stock
ONLY ONE WORKING HEADLIGH

on the way home from a kick back. around 2am on the 91 towards riverside. i noticed to my right someone was pacing me, then i saw the side gills, and nice wheels. he started to provoke me. bout a sec afterwards i see a car come up quick to my selft, it was my buddy (240sx). we were all lined up. i hear a downshift from the 240 so i drop it to third at about 70-75ish. the 240 takes off before the m3 and I. the M3 and i both punched it at the same time but, the 240 already had a car gap on us. by the time we hit 110-115ish the M3 gave up n his front wheel was at my door. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS!! the 240 kept its lead but pulled no further.
then i thought the M3 jumped onto the on ramp towards the 241 but a minute later there he was again to my right. he took off, i was i sixth so i didnt even try. my buddy followed. they had a couple short runs but, seemed bout even.

the M3 then pull off the freway n stops. weird. then minutes later i see him to my right again, wtf!!! only one of his headlights worked. we didnt really run cause, road was crap n turnig. then he turns his lights off and pull to the side of the freeway again. WTF could he be doing... anyway, we kept going and againg, there he is. caught up to us with his light off then would turn them on once next to us.

i pull to the left of the 240 with the M3 on the far right. i honk 3 times i take off but, they tok off after me. bout half a mile away was our exit so i signal. look back! n again hes pulling to the side of the freeway. i kept my eye on him and he stayed there for as long as i could see him.

two things! i cant believe my car kept up with a 240 with those mods and even better an M3.

240 is a tad faster, n i beat the M3 by like a fender.

NOW! MY QUESTION IS, WHAT COULD THIS GUY POSSIBLI BE DOING, OR WHAT CAUSED IM TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY!

I'm guessing it must have been driver error. Those M3's, even with the SMG transmission, are way quicker. I've never raced one but I bet it would put a few cars on me.

Yes, they are quick! From a roll in second I'm pulling, third were even to the top M3 will pull about a car and keep going (redline is at 9k)...So, I'm guessing he must have been a manual (not SMG) and not know how to drive lol.

How can one drive a modded turbo car w/o a tune?

BTW, Unless you're boosted, I don't think you will stand a chance with M3 with just bolt on.

A few of us have been saying this for a while and it's now a fairly common theme, more than a just few isolated instances. Anything can happen on the streets but a high powered FWD like the TL does not fair well at the track nor is it built to do as well there, take it to the parkway instead, just keep it safe.

sounds legit actually. From experiences, i know AP2 S2000s are a tad faster than a 6speed TL. Having running one when I had only AEM V2, it pulled on my by a fender from 40-100mph. M3 might have had a problem going on who knows? I'm not saying it's impossible to keep pulling a M3. I've actually had the chance to run one e46. From 50-90mph ive stayed dead even...after that it pulled pretty hard lol

good run though adrian

Man, asking for trouble and no boost control. Been built turbo for IS300, G35, S4 (not designed kits, more like best of each) and I don't dare to pull w/o a tune. I suggest he should do it soon, when it goes kaboom then it will cost more than a tune.

I only run low 14's at the track....
