6MT RPM at 60 MPH in 6th Gear

In my current 03 TLS-Navi, I seem to hover around 1500RPM at 60MPH in 5th gear, with the change in gearing for the manual, does anyone have a guess as to engine speed at 60MPH in 6th?

Probably 2000 rpm due to a different final drive ratio and less aggressive overdrive gear.

Probably 2000 rpm due to a different final drive ratio and less aggressive overdrive gear.

Please explain "less agressive overdrive gear" Thank you.

I think you are right. The official estimate for MPG on the manual is 28, down 1 mpg from the previous gen TLS.

Nicki, I mean that the gearing will be more performance oriented than economy.

Based on the Info given: 5 speed at 60 MPH in 5th gear is 1500 RPM

Doing calculations the 6 speed at 60 mph in 6th gear is around 1860 RPM

Math: Take 1500RPM/ (Final Drive ratio*5th gear ratio) = Cranks shaft rotation

Crankshaft rotation * (New Final Drvie Ratio*6th gear ratio) = New RPM at 60MPH

Thanks AcuraTLFan.

I was hoping for five performance gears and for a bigh drop off in 6th to enjoy the great mileage I get in my 03 TLS-Navi.

Hopefully, I'll be able to squeak out 30MPG/Hwy.
