Angry 6MT/Navi undelivered

I have a deposite on 6MT/Navi, NBP/Ebony. Dealer called to come since it came on Wednesday night.

Went today excitedly to get the delivery. Got to the saleslady and we went to look at the car. Guess what the car was missing. She went searching for and came after 10 mins saying she's very sorry but the dealership put a small ding below the fuel door while waxing and is sent to the body shop and will be back in 24 hrs.

Dunno what to do? What you guys/gals suggest? Should I take the delivery? Should I ask for discount?

Which dealership did you go to? I hope you don't experience the unpleasant experience I had with Stevens Creek!

I would try to get a discount. If they are nice they will give it to you. If there were tons of these cars available, I would really ask for another car, but especially NAV/6MT is hard to get and they'll easily sell it to the next person after you. I can imagine that its not a pleasant feeling, but sh** happens. That's my 0.015.

If they "dinged" my car while detailing it, I would first inspect the car with a fine tooth comb and ensure the repair is to my liking before I sign a single document. I would also want to see a copy of the repair invoice documenting exactly how much "ding" damage was done.

Second, if and only if the repair was spotless, I would go to the sales manager and voice your concern and see if you get get some free throw-ins (mats, mudflaps, lip spoiler, etc...) for your hardship and inconvenience.

If it's not to your liking, walk.

You shouldn't even have to ask for stuff, the dealership should recognize their innocent error and make amends.

The current time is really unfortunate for us as the consumer... it is definitely a seller's market right now the way someone will walk in right after us and buy the car that you walked off on.

Unfortunately, that's the way Honda has always been from what I've read off of forums and heard from friends who have purchased Hondas....."if you don't buy it the next person will" is their take on selling cars.

As for Acura, I've experienced something different from what everyone else has told me - that dealers are willing to deal (at least in my situation). On Navi cars, no but on non-navi's you can get a great deal.

I agree that the next person will buy the car though, Lore, which leaves us in a bind sometimes - your case especially.

Fortunately I don't even need a car so I can wait forever if need be. However, I will get a fair deal for me and the dealership soon....whenever my darn Saab gets repaired. (Long story)

Ok, long story short - End of my lease (going month to month) w/ my 2001 Saab 9-3 SE Vert and negotiating a final deal on my new TL.

Walk out on Saturday morning to find a portion of my residential building had fallen on the hood of my car....$1,500 in damage and now am trying to deal with THEIR property insurers which is like trying to run a roofing nail into a slicked up cue ball - impossible. Hard to nail them down to anything.

Oh well, could have been worse, I could have been under the falling concrete as opposed to my car.

So, no deal on a TL until I get my car fixed first.

Sorry to hear

Tripp11,

Very sorry to hear that. Hope you get it fixed from the insurance soon and wish you'll not loose any money on it.

If it's just a small ding, I wouldn't worry about it. they use dent wizard and it comes back looking like new. i had the same thing happen to me when i picked up my s2000. i made them remove it the next day before i took delivery and it was perfect the next time i saw it.
