6MT and Brembos

I wanna verify something...and maybe give some of you a heads up...

I'm pretty high mileage (41,000 in 1.5 years)...

Took the car into South Coast Acura last night...apparently my front pads are down to 1mm.

Service guy (and...if this ISN'T true...time try out Tustin) says that there isn't a wear indicator on these pads.

IF IT IS TRUE...HEADS UP!

If it isn't, please let me know so that I can call bulls@#t.

Total BS. There is a wear indicator on our pads. It's on the outside.

There is a wear indicator a cheap low cost primitive style indicator but it is there.

All it is, is a curved metal piece that once the pad gets very low about 1 - 2 MM it will start touching the rotor causing a metal to metal squeal.

If you have hit this indicator and do not do something ASAP then you will groove the rotor a little.

It's funny...I was getting a squeak when braking...

But I was expecting the squeak when driving slowly to let me know that my pads were low.

Well, now I know.

there should be a metal piece on the pad that will touch the rotor once it gets down to the point it needs replacing. its like a small metal clip held in place by a clip. its quite possible it could have been flung off. its the same across the board as all OEM cars with Brembo brakes (Evo, STi, SRT8, CTS-V, etc)

You got a lot of mileage out of the brembo pads. And there are wear indicators, at least on the brembo pads that I took off my TL last year.

Yeah...I was REALLY surprised at how long I went...I think that 12 years of driving stick has finally paid off

Reminder to all drivers

Brakes are CHEAP to replace when compared to replacement of Clutch or Transmission
Use the right tool for the job!
Brakes slow the car, transmission is for being in the torque band exiting the corner

Both Racing Brake and Rotora are releasing new 6MT brake rotors

I agree with what you're saying, for the most part. Proper down shifting is necessary in a manual car, as an automatic helps you slow down by down shifting on its own.

A car with a manually tranny should have its brakes last as long as an autobox, if not longer.
