6MT Brembo Brake Problem
6MT Brembo Brake Problem
Whats up guys. As you know just purchased the car and I think I need some pads. The right front seems to be scrubbing at low speed braking especially when the car is cold. I plan on pulling the tire to check tonight. BTW no visible signs of rotor damage or anything. Question what type of pads should I be looking at? Are pads from my local parts store okay? Also I have never changed a brake pad but would be looking to give it a go. I am handy so how difficult would it be. I am sure there is a post about changing the pads somewhere so if someone could help me out that would be great.
what are your goals?
do you plan to track, spirited runs, etc?
if not, the cmax gold pads work just fine, which you can find at autozone.
its really easy to change the pads on the brembo brakes.
there are two pins that you push out, which will give you enough space to take the old pads out and put the new ones in

No track or runs only everyday driving. I was on autozone website and didnt see an option for 6MT so was just curious if they carried what I needed. Thanks.

How on earth would you c-clamp the 4 pistons on a brembo caliper without removing it from the car?
I have heard you can just use the pad. Stick it in sideways and gently lever each piston back one at a time against the rotor. Otherwise you need an offset caliper tool like this ($42 on amazon or $39 on ebay):

I use Rotex Gold Kevlars. Very good pads and perhaps 80-90% less dust, which is a big plus for me. The OEM pads are excellent but they dust like crazy.
This is a pretty simple job. Make sure you have the proper parts (anti-squeal grease and such) on hand and some brake cleaner as well (you'll find out what I am talking about). It is not mandatory to use the shims but if you can then clean them up good first.

Thanks for the info. Tooks wheels off last night and it does seem very easy to change the pads. Since I have only had the car for less than a week I am working with the dealer to take car of this for me this time. But next time I will take care of it myself
