is the 6-speed faster than the auto transmission tl 3G

The rest of this thread is fail. With just about every car minus the low torque Hondas, the auto is right there with the manual.
DSG IS an automatically shifted manual for all intents and purposes.
A conventional auto has a torque convertor and hydraulic pump, both of which reduce efficiency. The torque convertor becomes a big advantage when power levels start climbing if you're into drag racing. For road racing, a manual or DSG is better most of the time.
Don't forget about the Lencos and "manuals" with a torque convertor in the racing world.

^^ As far as the TL/Accord V6 is concerned, the 6MT feels like a different car. I've driven mine and then my friends 5AT, it's noticeably slower. By different car I mean the same car, yet different The difference is noticeable to say the least. That doesn't take away from the 5AT being just as good of a car, it's just not as fast.
Yes, when you get to be really fast an auto is better suited. The fastest cars in the world are auto, etc, etc. More power = less gears + auto = FTMFW.
This is exactly why you see cars like the IS-F, new M3, M6, M5 (mostly), GTR, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. with automatic transmissions. /point

.5 seconds is with a very good driver behind the manual. Put the average Joe off the street and it won't be that close.
.5 seconds is a lot starting from about the 12s on down. In a 14 second, 95-99mph car it's really not that much. A little too much wheelspin or a bog on the start is all it takes for the auto to win.
However, I got my TL to get from point A to point B. It's not fast, never will be. I realized this from the start so it didn't make sense to row my own gears in stop and go traffic everyday to shave 0-.5 seconds off my 1/4 times.

Wow, yo OP you should just SEARCH cuz there is literally like 20 posts about "what's faster type-s/base/5MT/6AT. Who really cares? At the end ofthe day it's all about who can hit the gas pedal the fastest/ shift the quickest.

It's mostly in good fun. I usually don't post in these threads but it's interesting when people act like the 6mt is a completely different car than the 5at. There's just not that much difference. I can see why people interested in performance would choose the 6mt but it's the attitude that gets me.

We need something like a search engine helper. Before someone can submit a thread, the engine should pick up keywords and generate a message like "Here are 20 threads similar to your request. If you create a thread for info deemed redundant by Admins, you will be BANNED FOR LIFE".

And then there is the final drive ratio. The automatic has a much lower final drive than does the manual which is why the automatic has such a torquey, or touchy, feel to it when starting out. But after that, the ratios in the rest of the gears when multiplied by the final drive, favor the manual.

bottom line, the 6mt is a faster car. is the TL fast? no. is the difference substancial? no, but its noticeable.

People that are saying the 6mt is noticeably faster are usually the people who like to drive manual, I know how to drive manual, and I actually do enjoy it, I bought the auto because some mornings I like to just wake up, and drive to work half asleep, without having to bother shifting gears, it's also easier for my wife to drive, so thats a plus.
typically, the people in the 6mts feel their car is significantly faster because they shift the car themselves, and the gear change is more anticipated, instead of just sitting back with your foot on the pedal, you're watching the tach and speedo and you're in the mindset "okay, just shifted, now i'm going faster," you may feel the car is noticeable, but if you sit passenger in each car, and have the driver floor it 0-100, you won't be able to tell the difference

Why does it have to be about winning and losing? Why cant you all just discuss the merits of each?

I put my Tien and AEM stickers on my car yesturday, and I swear it felt like it gained at least 10WHP

To be honest, the 6mt is better is just about every way except the fact that you have to shift your own gears. Sometimes this can be a hassle and its not for everyone. Depending on the person and the environment which you drive your car, this fact alone can easily out weigh the advantages of a 6mt.
I bet you have an auto.

How can the MT (base-to-base or S-to-S) NOT be faster/quicker?
- AT & MT have the same SAE Horsepower (258 base models; 286 TL-S models);
- Lighter weight (by ~100 pounds) for hte MT;
- More aggressive gearing for the MT;
- More efficient drive train (i.e. less HP lost on the way to the wheels) for the MT.
I get that some prefer auto and some manual.
I get that for a heavy sedan both are "quick enough".
I get that both the auto and maual can be fun to drive.
I get that on the 1/4 mile, any driver might beat the the other.
But none of that is relevant to the basic question: Which is faster, MT or AT (all stock, same model)? It's the MT. There is NO question.
