4G TL growing on you?
It's growing on me, slowly. Once the 6MT comes out it could be the icing on the cake.
You have to admit, it's better then the 3G in almost every way. Bigger, better, more powerful (but not faster

I still think it's ugly, and wouldn't ever consider purchasing one.
I was thinking about it the other day, if I get rid of the TL-S in the next 2 years or so, I'd probably have to get a G37. BMW is over priced, and the new TL's are still as ugly as sin.

I was at Norris Acura for 3 hours a couple weekends ago getting some tire mounted and an alignment. After walking pass the various 4G TL's in the lot and showroom I'll never get used to it's ugly front/rear, the side is OK.

I feel the same way. After sitting in a couple of them at the dealerships they are nice cars. Still a little awkward looking since it almost looks like some sort of space ship and is kind of big and clunky looking, but when you see the front grill body color painted it definitely helps the front end. Without it painted it looks pretty bad. I still wouldnt get one over my 07 KBP TL-S but I would drive one sure.
I do however wish my 07 S had the keyless go and ignition and some of the newer gadgets of the 09+ but oh well.

It's not "The more you look at it the more you like it"
It's "The more you look at it the more you get used to it, and accept the major cosmetic flaws"
I will sooner buy another make than upgrade to a 4G TL. That thing is Foogly...

eh?
Had a 4G Tech as my loaner yesterday. Love the style of the interior but I hate the exterior... Car drives great but I just can't get over the exterior... Hopefully they will make some tweaks to it in the coming years... I'll stick with my TL-S for now.
when the 4G first came out I thought it was AWFUL and I hated it.
Now that I've seen them around, sat in one, test drove one - I hate it less, but every time I think I am sort of starting to accept it, I see the fugly front/rear and I hate it.
look at the profile of the car - it's just too damn big. It's NOT a TL - it's an RL. That's how it drove to me. My parents have a 2007 RL - and the new TL felt a lot like their car in weight, etc. Now, granted, I drove a base w/tech, not the stiffer sprung SH-AWD model - but the standard TL is soft and floaty. I didn't like it.
the new TSX is a nice car - it honestly is the closest equivalent to the 3G TL. once they drop a V6 into the TSX - it will be VERY similar to a 3G TL-S just with new styling.

I'm getting used to it, but I still cannot get with that front and rear end. IMO, they could actually make the front end a bit more likable, but (sadly) that rear end is one the worse I've seen. I drove a SH-AWD 4G a few months ago and I loved the interior and the way it drove, but it ends there. The salesman of course was trying to minimize my dislike for the exterior styling.
Two weeks ago when I had my 3G in for an A1 service another salesman said to me that people also hated the 3G when it came out. I don't recall that at all. I'm thinking that's become their strategy for anyone who says they don't like the 4G styling.

I've seen a few on the road and although I do think the styling is pretty distinctive, the front end is still very ugly. The paintmatched beaks do look much better, however. I actually find the back acceptable, but the SH-AWD looks better than the base model to me. For some reason the quad tips seem to fit the pointy rear end better than the wide double tips.
I love my TL so much, I thought my next car would be another TL. I felt betrayed when I saw what they did to it. The 4G still looks like an evil grinning transformer from the back - or even worse a Camry. The inside is nice, but I'd be embarrassed to own one.
My car has 80K on it and I'm hoping it lasts until the next redesign. If not, I'd go with the V6 TSX, the styling on that is more acceptable than the TL's.
I hardly see any 4Gs on the road, I think this was Acura's Edsel.

My 3G is only a few months old. Don't like the looks of the 4G, so will wait to see what the 5G looks like. Unless it's a vast improvement, I will be going to a different brand, either Infinity or BMW.
FYI
2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT, beat (in this order)
1) Audi S4 6MT
2) BMW 335i 6MT
3) BMW 335xi 6MT
4) Infinity G37s 6MT
on the track, of course.... it beat them by a whopping 2.7 seconds on a 1.6 mile course.. straight line, just about every car will crush it..
BUT the 6MT is 110lbs lighter then the 5AT, weigh in at about 3830 lbs
Drive the car....
-- I assure you all, that i HATED this car when it premiered... i felt like a kid who just found out santa wasnt real
sit in one, and drive one.... the SH-AWD was quote "The worlds greatest AWD system" from Motor Trend & Car and Driver
The looks... eh.. you know what, i HATED the 3G when it first came out (i LOVED the 2G TL-S)... and i ended up owning 2 3G TLs..... i could see myself purchasing the 4G Type-S in 2011 (speculations for a 6MT, AWD V8)
Just my
i would say, let the flame war begin, but mods will be sure to close this thread down... just like every other 4G bashing thread...

I had a 4G w/ Tech for a loaner while I was getting my 3rd gear syncro replaced at the dealer and it really did grow on me.
I have to say that while I still think the 3G looks better the 4G really isn't all that bad. Dare I say it? I actually like how the 4G looks, the front, rear, and especially the interior.
4G Type-S with SH-AWD and a V-8???
I'm definitely going to keep my eyes open for more news on this.

in fact, go search the 2G forums... alot of people talked smack about the 3G when it came out.... some of those members, ended up owning the 3G
the 4G is just ahead of its time...its....."advanced" (no pun intended)....the designers at honda/acura arent fools... they know what they're doing

Hell no.... too butt fugly.... I'm waiting for the so call Acura MMC (the first "M" stands for "Major" not "Minor" anymore) for the 4th gen TL and change out the blunt front and distorted rear to piss off the current 4th gen owner
MMC will most likely be a combined of acura's usual changes
- More powerful engine
- Different headlights/taillights
- Slightly different grille
- Different Wheels
and some mild interior/exterior additions

lol agreed - I don't mind it so much any more, but it just seems like such a different car... I think it lost something in the redesign that the previous couple generations captured beautifully, like part boy-racer part refined machine. Now it just looks a robot.

It has definitely grown on me. I don't know if I'd get it though because of its controversial looks. I plan on keeping my 3G another 3-4 years. Hopefully by then Acura has more compelling designs.

and
whenever I see a 4G TL.
