I had a similar issue with my 04 TL. I got a full 100% leather kit from Leatherseats.com, the front seat bottoms were designed to be installed on the 05-08 base models. I was able to still do the install without an issue with minor adjustments made. I have the pictures and process posted in my build thread.

And Yes, the 05+ design is better, however, the 04 seat bottom doesn't have a place to secure the 2nd strip to the cushion. I pulled it tight on the back side and used 3M adhesive glue on any open spots on the cushion away from the head pad element to secure the leather. Minor tweaking needed, but it's not impossible to work with regardless of what cover they provided.

Nothing like an interior that looks (and probably smells) like new.
Thank God my rear seats don't need replacing. Just doing the seat bottoms on the fronts for now.

I know most won't attempt to this the job on their own. The seat bottoms are the easiest to do. Paul won't take too long to do them.

Looks great. Paul had showed me a pic of the seats the other day. This will be the next item to be done after Paul completes my AV6 trans reswap next week on my 05 and all is good. I need to replace all the seats in mine.

I'm curious if you have 'Umber' Jerry--I had it in my 09 4G and loved it, back to a 3G this time around (my second), Alabaster Silver with Ebony (also second of the same color combo). I've always been curious how Umber might look paired with the Alabaster Silver.

I replaced my entire front seats myself. Wasn't too bad. Even recycled a lot of the hog rings. Took me about 3 nights working about 2-3 hrs each night. The airbag on the seat back cushions was probably the hardest part. I took tons of pictures on my phone when I replaced the seat cushions to make sure things when back the right way. I eventually deleted them, like an idiot. I even marked down where the hog rings went back in.
