3rd gear issues 08 TL type-S, VIN not covered in TSB
3rd gear issues 08 TL type-S, VIN not covered in TSB
so i recently got an 08 type-S and came to this most excellent forum and discovered the 3rd gear issue and the recent TSB on it. However the TSB only covers VINs up to 19UUA75..8A029085 and mine is higher than that.
since i hadn't driven stick in years when i got the TL, i didn't really notice the 3rd gear thing at first. but as i got better at shifting i noticed that 3rd would pop out every once in awhile. at first i thought it was "user error" but now i know it's not - i'm no race car driver but i've got the shifting down pretty cold now. 3rd is the only gear that's popped out so i know it's not technique. and it does it on a fairly regular basis, a few times a week.
the car is still under warranty but the TSB doesn't cover my VIN... so... any advice? i didn't get it new so the dealer isn't jumping up and down to give me good service. can a honda dealership do warranty repairs on an acura? i bought two hondas from the local honda dealer, they might be more willing to work with me.
another thing - i'm pretty sure they have not yet changed out the original syncromesh fluid. i know about the GM friction modified but i'd rather get the warranty repair done instead of potentially voiding the warranty.
thanks!
