Hey guys so I have the 07 type s tails on my 04 tl. I was just wondering what color is the trim around your type s tails? Its just pretty much straight up chrome around my tails but whenever I see the tails on a legit type-s, it seems like they have a dark chrome almost like a gunmetal color. I ordered my tails from Curry Acura so I'm pretty sure they're OEM. Any input is appreciated, perhaps my eyes are just being deceived.

 

Factory Type-S taillight bezels are finished in a black/dark chrome color. Yours likely are as well, it can be deceiving until you hold something shiny up to your tails for comparison. In fact just look at the contrast between the bezel and the chrome Acura lettering...

On a slightly off topic question related, what do the oem tail-lights say on the bottom for authenticity purposes?

I did the same thing on my wdp 04 tl. I changed them to type s from curry acura everything is oem from curry. I was looking at the same thing myself but i guess with the wdp it looks lighter then others due to the white color around the taillight. But rest assure they are oem.

 

That's mine... also does yours fit nice and flush? for some reason the taillight on my driver side doesn't fit perfectly flush towards the bottom right corner, but my passenger side taillight is nice and flush.

 

The tails are oem, I actually had the same issue. I have no idea why this is so common. Just call acura and tell them your situation and have them replace them. There is no reason why one should be a bright chrome and the other is black chrome. All type-s ti's have black chrome tail lights. I think its a defect in their type-s tail light chroming process.
