My buddy just texted me and told me he's trying to buy (when it comes out) the new Durango SRT. Dude has been saving his pennies. Been driving a 2005 Dodge Neon since 2007. Started driving for Uber/Lyft and just started doing Amazon Flex, plus he's a manager at the Home Improvement store.

To each their own but I don't like the idea of paying off an entire car with a lump of money. Personally it's all about Time Value of Money. Instead of dropping 30K cash on a car, if I can finance it for 3-5 years at a rate less than inflation (~ 3% or less , 0 is the best of course), than it makes more sense to just put the minimum down, and pay the payments and invest the rest of the money into the stock market or something else.
