true. I guess I haven't seen the ad, so it depends. I've found in the past that if I do a long FS ad like that, I just get a bunch of tools calling and asking about shit that is posted, because they have the attention span of a squirrel and can't read the ad in its entirety.

So I list the condition of the car and the majority of shit it comes with, but for more details, I just do it over the phone or in person and go into everything then.

I would stick with OEM compliance bushings J. Those PCI are a track only kinda think IMO. Car is great right? Why make it uncomfortable for your frequent female passengers?

And no I'm probably long winded. But I too would appreciate that if I were buying a car like this. So I'll just roll with it.

I'm going to put it up on Craigslist first for a while because I think I can get a bit more from a buyer there. Then I'll throw it up here, AutoTrader, 3G Facebook, etc...

personally, I too like a shit ton of detail. Gives you an idea of the current owner- if they're willing to go through the hassle to make a proper ad, you get the feeling the car was likely also well looked after.

Its the absolute shit ads that always leave a guy wondering...

Adam, the people you're describing reading the ad and still asking questions (or not reading it tl;dr style) won't be the ones buying it anyway...
just have "read the ad" copy and ready to paste on your phone.

Also, good thinking boys...I think I'll do it the way I did on black...oem with window weld shoved in it.

I wouldn't even fuck with the window weld but to each their own. IMO that bushing needs to move as it wants to. If you have to replace them every 60k, so be it.

Maybe the mod didn't like you making the offer public?

Yeah, I guess maybe not...it's lasted 130K without too much issue, guess I could just slap the new ones in.

I don't know why it doesn't work. Astro never responded back.

Eh nothing wrong asking what to do. He gave me a choice, I chose with help. I asked if a new smilie was good, he said yes, so I sent it.

Maybe he doesn't have the powah and had to delegate it up the chain....

A long time ago, I thought spherical bearings would be good to put on mah racecah. But then I got older and started to appreciate all the fillings staying in place in my teeth. And in the twinkies I'm always eating when driving. So now I appreciate the compliance of rubber bushings on suspension components.

Maybe a stiffer durometer if I'm feeling frisky, but metal-on-metal is for robots and track cars. Not daily drivers.

Unless your daily is fully stripped, AC-less, and uncomfortable already. Then spherical-bearings away! Enjoy pissing blood.

I got an official letter from KIA motors. It's acknowledged the growing engine failure issue that has plagued the sonata, now equally plagues all 2.4 and 2.0T optima engines. I've been keeping on top of this issue since it's development over a year ago. KIA will either replace the short block for free under the right circumstances. Knock on wood, we've been on top of all maintenance. A friend of mine who works for KIA said the optima may face a plunge in value. Unfortunately, this is like the dashboard cracking issue on the 3rd gen. From my understanding, they didn't clean these engine blocks correctly. Metal material might be inside oil channels, which can pit the rod bearings or starve them for lubrication. Also, the owners manual said to do oil changes every 7K, but i've been doing them every 4K. I know a few people that have suffered rod knocking. At least they are trying to correct the issue, unlike Acura who still doesn't acknowledge a dashboard issue..

yeah I agree. I did OEM compliance bushings too. In addition, if you do stiffen those up, those additional forces the OEM bushings aren't eating are going somewhere. Likely ends with more wear and tear on engine mounts, etc.

I believe the KIA sportage uses the same 2.4 Theta Engine as in the optima / sonata. Keep in mind, they used these two motors across the entire line up. This is just the beginning. Honestly, as much as it sucks to say so, best to sell before everything goes south.

im surprised you say that after all the money you've dumped into the optima. Personally, I'd rather just get a new block put in and call it a day.

interesting.
my mom is almost at 4 years with her '12 Sportage. we're at 58k miles.
I change the oil every 6k miles. I have not noticed knocking or any strange oil incidents. I will keep my eye on her vehicle.

there's no 100% way to say that KIA would actually take care of it. The value on her car is worth $15,289 As of now.. Let's say down the road the engine does that a dump, and KIA says well.. it's def because you're modified / DECLINED. I don't want to go through with that, considering what's done has no affect on the root cause. Looking down the road, my wife now travels for work. No longer works from home. I don't want to stress out about her safety while communing to work. Come winter, she's SOL to be honest. flip side is, by 2 to 3 years, we plan on having a kid, (J would probably agree) It would be ideal to have a safer vehicle. Not knocking the car, but I feel better if my family is well protected. Next vehicle, when and if the time comes, will certainly be left alone. Stock life.

^reading the reviews, even if you take it to kia 90% of the time for oil changes, they still denied warranty on engine failure...

that means they would def. deny my warranty as I change my own oil. I try to keep the reciepts, but fook, loose paper is hard to keep track of.

I understand it fully. I'm part of an optima forum and read the crap they go through at dealerships. I had my fair share of them not wanting to do the job right and blame everything else other than their lack of training to diagnose a problem. I told them about a clunking noise for the longest time. The technician claims, it was the 20 inch wheels making noise. When I did the rear sway bar, one of the sway bar links were toast. I told them to inspect all the links and sway bar bushings.. They said "all good".. Let's see. KIA also put the wrong size compressor on the car. Her car suffers a lack of A/C when not moving. They want me to pay for a new compressor even though there's a TSB on this. The steering shaft u-joint has an slight clunk noise when you turn the wheel side to side. I was also declined on warranty work because "it's not covered". The AC has 2 years warranty... So I was told. Which I was like "huh?" She has 34K on the car, there is no reason I should have to deal with these items failing at such a low mileage. The TL still have the original compressor and sway bar links. Zero issues with them..
