So I decided to replace my wife's brakes on her Optima. Great choice since it was about 11 outside and felt like -10. Back to why I hate letting anyone touch any of my vehicles. Went to remove the passenger front wheel and what happens? the fucking idiot at Firestone cross threaded one stud and they didn't bother to fix it correctly. Shit happens but no fucking way this is my problem now. I called Firestone and they try back pedaling. Must have been the same dipshit that tried to set my father's work sprinter on the lift and bend the pinch welds so bad that it bent the fucking lower rockers. Tomorrow morning I'm bringing in her car for them to look at it.

I still think they're great watches, and if they're to your taste nothing is inherently wrong with them, just something that irks me about their sport watches is that they are extremely reminiscent of the TAG Heuer models yet don't seem to have the same amount of refinement.

Damn I'm out for a whole day and now the thread is about timepieces?! I need to get on my timepiece game... Don't know shit about them... But I have enough expensive hobbies..
Got the TL smog checked today... Sometimes I hate living in CA, the emissions laws here are ridiculous

Igloo life is crazy. I saw sunlight today though
Still trotting the globe, good sir?
Thank you kindly. You too!
Get yourself some seat time this weekend, Majofo. I'm still voting E63/CTS-V/ILX for you though, if we're talking 4 doors.

I feel for you, really. I realized many many years ago when I was growing up in PA just south of Lake Erie that I was not going to live there any longer than I had to. Went to college and moved the hell out of PA. The weather here is great for the most part...occasional cold and snow, but with the sun the snow melts quickly and we're back on the course in no time.
Have to get up early tomorrow...off to

Not meant as an insult, but there's definitely a difference in craftsmanship, complexity and refinement between a $500 watch (which is plenty good in my book, don't get me wrong) and a $2500, brand name aside. Just compare through the same brand and you'll see. I can myself tell usually within 10 seconds of smacking it on my wrist.
My dad is also a big amateur of watches (got that from him) and having worked in the aeronautics industry he has had the chance to buy some very interesting watches for very interesting prices and I've always appreciated the different qualities of the different models and brands.
From the boldness of some of the Rolex to the "everything just so right but why did I buy this" Patek Philippe, the very dark Rado's to the warrior Hamilton I think they all have qualities that made them worthwhile.
Talking about Hamilton, they have very good watches for almost nothing. They're sturdy and I think they're still very much in the game when it comes to actually affordable watches you can work with.
Amen.

Yeah, you guys are right, I'm just being a jealous bitch. Sigh...
Speaking of which, I have a nice Tissot I got from wifey for our first anniversary. Nothing crazy, but it is nice.
Edit: just found a pic:
And as far as unique timepieces are concerned, anyone have 10-16k? All belt driven.
The Devon Tread E Watch from Authorized Dealer Watchismocom
As cool as it is and as much as the engineer in me loves it, I dunno if I'd buy one if I had the money. I'd likely go for something a bit more classy at that price point, you know? It's certainly original though.

^ Tissots are good pieces.
Nothing to be ashamed of. Again, it is what you can afford...there are a plethora of good choices in any budget-range. As a rule, I would stick watch companies and not "name brands" that slap their logo on it (i.e. Hugo Boss, Burberry, etc.) as they usually use $20 calibers.
And Devon watches are VERY cool. Steampunk feel...
URWERK takes that to another level, though.

Frantz you need to get seat time in the C.. it's the perfect amount of room. Compact but comfortable for 4 adults. The seat bolsters are so obnoxious.. just like the car itself.. it's glorious. No local E's for sale unfortunately. There is a CTS-V sedan.. It's a 2010 but it has 80k miles. Price is only okay considering TTL. The nice thing is the dealership is legit. They gave my brosef $60k donation to help get medical supplies to Guatemala (his home).. so kinda have a sweet spot for them.
Even though it's high mileage, they give a lifetime powertrain warranty on the cars they sell. So as long as I own the caddy.. they'll fix it if I throw a rod out the pan or disintegrate the slush box. Very tempting.. it will probably keep me from effing with the boost and tune though.

btw.. the 2010 and 2011 C63's had a revision to the engine (M159) that fixed the issues with the heads. I watched this video 3 times already.. it's glorious. What a dream job.. I love that they get to put their tag on them at the end..

Maj, there's no need to mess with the tune or anything on that car. It's good as is! I had a
CTS-V Coupe leave me far behind in the base TL one night when were goofing off. He had the black on black with black rims.

Every time I hear J talking about getting rid of the TL, I wish I would have joined AZ before I got my TL. I'd gladly give you $15k for that beauty sir! At least if you sold it to someone on AZ, you'd be able to check on her and see how she's doing.

Sedan. Sedan all the way. I was just telling a friend how the rear lines of the CTS-V make no sense
In other news its -40 here today with the windchill. I feel like I'm living in goddamn Winnipeg. Car started this morning (parked outside ) but she definitely had a moment where she was struggling

M156/M159 it's the first in-house V8 motor built by AMG and its a effing beast. 3.7 0-60, ice skates with esp off. There's an esp-sport mode for the times you want to screw around but not die. lol.
We'll see.
N1lI1IlI111!#/!11il consider yourself lucky. Wouldn't be surprised if you mucked some of the cyls.
