Depends on your age and current situation tb. Sometimes the bigger the risk the bigger the reward. Just from a high level, it seems like leaving would guarantee a higher net gain all else being the same. Burning bridges aside, you gotta look at what you value more. Bad work environment + less money + not burn bridges + regular raises or Potentially better work environment + more money + burn bridges + nice raise right off the bat.
Put that way, it actually looks good to just switch brah. But then again, I'm not sure how old you as your career moves early can make huge waves down the line (sometimes in a great way, sometimes not).

I have a bit of a dilemma and I'm looking for advice for you fine gentlemen.
I've been offered a new position at my place of work, however, the pay raise that comes with it falls short of what I was hoping for. Essentially, I'm getting a 10% increase over what I make now, but I was hoping for a 17% raise.
The 17% raise would have put me right in the middle of that job's pay scale. The 10% increase puts me a little past the start of the job's pay scale.
The thing is, I can only get a 5% raise per year at the place I work at. No more. No less. So I can't ask for more money next year. And that increase is pretty much guaranteed unless you're retarded.
Also, the job is literally identical to what I do now. The only difference is the title, which goes from 'project manager' to 'engineer'. Responsibilities are identical, just a different department, but because they have the word "engineer" is in the title, they were able to classify it at a higher pay grade.
My current job is good. I like the people I work with, I like what I do, the only downside is that my boss currently micro manages the shit out of me and the rest of us. It's just his nature. But here's the kicker- our department is doubling in size so with the number of people (6 total, plus the boss), and the number of projects, he simply won't be able to micro manage anymore and he even said it himself. Write them your experience which sets you at all the experience required and then some.. then show them industry average, consider your time with job, then put yourself at +25%. Last page print in big letters, Fuck you eh!

For Miz, I offer a special "slow release" method. Takes a little longer but the effects are much more satisfying.
For J, I suggest the "angry trumpeter" treatment. I think that's exactly what he needs.
