Jeremy you already did the job?
or you placed the order?
you dont need to do the radiator hoses but do look into the coolant lines which run under the TB....have you done TB coolant bypass mod?
Also, I suggest getting another gasket which is from your runners to manifold....since you wont remove your runners, you wont need the gaskets from the heads to the runners....
WORD of caution....when you put the head gasket back in, take some oil (fresh) and pour a little bit in a bowl....then with your finger apply that oil to the new head gasket... also the bolts that hold the heads in have a rubber surrounding....apply a little bit of oil to those rubber surroundings as well....
when you torque everything down, you will see that the bolts are leaking....its actually the oil that you applied....wipe everything down a day after you do the job and then watch for any oil trails

Well, imagine 200deg coolant running though your throttle body....shit gets hot....
with the bypass, my intake path stays cold
but the reason I mentioned that is, I found the 2 lines block to TB and TB to block, they get brittle....i think its a 3/8 line and should be checked and replaced

anyways, regarding oiling down the head gasket..
oil the threads, not the gasket.
You just want to be sure you clean the surface well and install it dry.

^^^ am not saying dip the gasket in oil....the reason you put a tad bit of oil is so that the rubber doesn't get dry from the heat and crack....

I thought you "wetted" rubber gaskets like the valve covers and spark plug tubes but not the head gasket?
I've never seen a J's head gasket but in H, B, and Ks, if I recall, it's actually a metal substrate, not rubber, thus is installed dry.
Am I wrong?
Edit: Just confirmed by my Master Tech friend. HG gets installed dry. The bolts get wetted. Like Maj said.

^^^ I said the bolts get wetted
also the head gasket is not a paper gasket but a rubber gasket....
Justin, I hate those freaking V6's from Toyota....they are tilted back...so the front head gasket/spark plugs are a breeze, but to access the rear, everything including the runners gotta come off....I aint got time fo dat
and all the maintenance on her car is done by me....I got a good deal on the timing belt service from a local dealer so I took it in....it was like $400-ish for parts and labor on the timing belt job .... I like having some peace of mind on those jobs....everything else has been done at home

Hello, I see you all are talking about your "gaskets" and rubbing "oil" on them so, I'll come back later when it's back to the regular ramblings, let's go Maj.
