Hi guys,
I'm looking to getting into a 3rd gen TL. Not sure the difference between Type-S and non Type-S though. I'm coming from a BMW 335, so performance wise I know it's a step down, but honestly I'm tired of the bullshit BMW problems that are farrrr too common. Think electric water pump dying, high pressure fuel pump dying, turbo's needing being rebuilt, coil packs at $200/each when there are 6 total, coding/computer issues, cylinder head gunking up due to direct injection etc ALL before you even hit 70K miles.
I wanted to get some feedback as to what trim is good, and some common issues to keep a look out for. I know these things are Honda's so they'll run forever which is why I'm making the switch. I prefer White exterior with Black interior, an 6 speed would be nice but on a FWD car I could go either way. Looking for 3rd gen TL around 60k-70k miles.

^if I was in the market for a TL right now, the only car I'd get is the 2008 type-s 6mt.
2008 was the last year they made them. and the type-s is the highest trim available.
so, a 5 year old car with 60-70k aint bad with all the fix-ins.
if you do anything older than a 2008 Type-s, you'll be faced with 100k mile vehicles that arent in that great of shape with less "fix ins" than the type-s.
and yes, you have to accrue 5 post with being a member for 15 days to access the "black market"

Yes, but the type s wasn't in existence until 2007/08 (right Chad?).
Good luck and welcome to Acura. BMW sounds like a nightmare...you'll love the Acura.

You don't need to downgrade to find something more reliable. What's the budget?

Awesome, thanks for the response. I'm browsing some threads and it seems these cars do not have many major issues compared to the BMW world. I'm not seeing a whole lot of 2008's for sale, but 06-07's are a little more common. Just an observation. To clarify, there isn't any major problems with 06-07's right?
everything is simple to work on.
everything has a simple fix.
we do have aluminum heads and cylinder #5 likes to eject the spark plug, sometimes.
I'd rather have a 5 year old car than a 7 year old car. my

the 06-07's are nice tho! just not as "sporty" as the type-s
