Oh well..

In other news, has anyone ever been to Raleigh, NC and Columbia, SC? Looks like my project in Florida is coming to an end at the end of the month
and I'll be going to those two places.
I've been to both...both nice towns...both serious college towns with southern belles running all over the place...and their accents...schwing!
It's been years tho...like 30 so I'm sure they've changed. Plus, I was on golf trips both times. Sleep, eat, play golf, drink, eat, drink, sleep. turns out that on golf trips, all towns are the same, just the courses are different.

This thread is tiring. Any counter argument is being ignored with petty details, finding a typo in text, adding useless variables to the equation and similar.

*cue "I reject your reality and substitute it with my own"*

If Mary is in a train going 70mph and Johnny is in a train going 50mph the opposite way and they are 53 miles apart, what did Yumcha eat for dinner?

This has been bugging me, something that nfn posted in the gas thread...whilst I'm not an engineer or expert I can't believe the motor is under a 45% load cruising on a flat road at highway speeds. That doesn't add up to me...why would we get 30+ mpg under those circumstances. We only need to feed the motor enough to maintain the momentum already achieved...right?

Gary... I've learned that when people want to get a point across, they will throw arbitrary numbers and figures to do so (and still have the audacity to cite "we want facts and data points, not opinions").. Their entire argument is based on variables out of their control and yet they still think they have come to some solid conclusion

Also: I'm still waiting for nfn and the crew to come into this thread and blame the accident on them using premium gas instead of regular

Doesn't take an engineer to observe this I believe, haha. Your eyes are as good as mine. Or maybe not, although I need new glasses.

Maybe, maybe not. Benefit of the doubt, even though I shouldn't.

This could also be the result of piss poor data analysis or collecting.

I don't have my TL anymore but I remember it cruising at 75 mph in 5th gear at about 1800 rpm, how the hell can that be 45% load.

I believe on my AT TL it is more at 2000rpm at that speed in my conditions, but your point still stands.
Hard to take anything else seriously when even the collected data looks erroneous.

Anyway, enough with that thread in this ramblings, let's toss salads.

That was my EXACT point I made, only to be shut down by "don't get all emotional mmmkay! He's got a scanner mmmkay!"

I don't fully understand what he means by engine load... I guess if at 70mph in top gear, if you mash the throttle, the car only slowly moves... Maybe it is at 50% load with near no juice to push it faster due to transmission gearing. Then again, I don't think he knows what engine load means either. "It wasn't indicated in the user manual"

But that being said, driving at 70mph in top gear does net you very good fuel economy, on a flat road. I too would correlate engine load with fuel economy. On 100% load, when mashing the throttle and doing redline pulls, you get horrible fuel economy. Cruising at highway speeds nets you good economy and I would assume low engine load.

When I'm sad, I typically drive in the 55-65% load..
To make myself feel better, I floor my car, so then the engine load increases to 75-80%.
Then I get sad because I notice my MPG is going down, so then engine load goes down to 45% to save gas.

Today I learned: Emotions play a huge part in mpg's apparently..?

Like pb said.. it's fucking pseudo-science at the end of the day.

Do you think our TL's would run on lube instead of motor oil? silicone-based lube of course.. none of that water-based nonsense.. we all know that would mess up our engines..

I'm thinking about starting a thread regarding that but figured I'd run it by the ramblings crew first.
