So went to a guy I work withs house today to help on an install. He is wanting to put Tein S Tech springs on his G37S. I knew he needed a torque wrench, but aside from that I assumed he had tools to do the job. I loaded up my torque wrench and grabbed a 12 pack, you know, to stay hydrated. Show up around 9 he's already got the wheels off and the front end on stands. I hop out and we start right to work. Neither of us had ever done this btw. So I start looking at how to get the strut loose and call out some sockets I needed. He has only 1 3/8" drive ratchet and maybe, MAYBE 10 sockets. I tried to make due but broke the wrench the first 5 minutes. So we head to the store to buy him a 1/2" drive ratchet and some sockets. Now, this is where it gets hairy. We get the struts out around 12:30 and I realize, how the fuck are we going to compress these fucking springs? I heard his neighbor running an air compressor so hopped over and met they guy. He was kind enough to help out with everything and we head back over to his house to reinstall. What could happen wrong next right? Well after all the shit he didn't mark the top hats so nothing lined up. Fast forward to about 5 today, after several trips to the hardware store and waiting on neighborly help, all we had managed to do was get the struts out successfully. I had to leave so he was going to try and hand tighten the spring compressor by hand and redo the top hats. Now I'm itching to install some springs on my car since I can't justify the coils atm.
TLDR; Take your own tools to a mod job or make sure the guy has his shit together.
