Working maybe 3-4 days a week at a local tunnel wash for soilid income, then do 1-4 details a week. I kniw detailing 1-2 cars a week would be more profitable than the wash job I currently have.
Joint pain? Yeah.. It hurts sometimes and heat gets to me, but detailing one car cant ve as bad as brushing the bumpers and windshields of 200 cars continually over five hours in 90°+ temperatures.
My ankles hurt like hell when I sit, then stand up after a day at work. I was born with clubbed feet.

Everybody smokes weed or does drugs, people can't drive. TONS of Chevy Sparks and Nissan Versas speeding 15 over the limit everywhere, yet everyone takes off so slow you almost rear end each other off the line.
Rap and hip-hop everywhere. It's a real "wannabe" culture here...
Jackson, MS (I lived 50 miles south in Brookhaven) was much better and more dignified! I tried Hattiesburg, I love the place, but it's still a college town...
I like a big, well respected market like New Orleans... People are not stupid there, nor do they all do drugs.
Most of my old class mates are now 20-22... A lot of them are either in college, married, kids... Normal people stuff...
I think every person I work with either does drugs, drinks or smokes... It's sad because they're mostly good people...
Not to mention all of the street bums... One tore up our lot this morning...
I'm usually asked for money on a sometimes daily basis...
My friend/former manager had an encounter with that kid that killed that cop in Biloxi a week earlier.
I know everyone says NOLA is rough, but that's the city... I'm from Jefferson Parish, not Orleans...
As far as detailing goes, I had a shop vac, steam cleaner, clay, microfiber, buckets so on... years ago!
It was cheap stuff and I had too many novelty items I never used.
I'm thinking of getting another shop vac, steamer, hoses, buckets, towels, chemicals detail brushes, vac brushes and maybe a small compressor and pressure washer and operate out of my car. Then, in a year or two, get maybe a cheap Honda Ridgeline or Tacoma and mount a 150 gal or tank in the bed and add a generator and be able to work at any location other than residential. I just can't justify putting a tank in the trunk of my Optima or when I get the Accord.
I've dreamed of this since late 2012 or early 2013, so I hope I can finally do it.
I just can't spend $10K on start up.
Start small, then work from there.

I thought about the van, but I really don't want something that big. Big cars are hard for me, especially in New Orleans where the population density is like New York. But it's definitely worth a look one day!
