So my gas grill is all shot out and rusted inside. No worries, go old school

I haven't used charcoal in over 10 years, forgot what a wonderful smell it gives off.

So I'm not allowed to BBQ all weekend?

I know what memorial day is about. BBQ'ing on saturday isn't going to make me forget.

A new Weber isn't in the budget for another month, so I improvised.

I was in D.C. last memorial day. Hot as hell. Visited Arlington memorial and saw the graves in person. I bbq for the people who gave their lives to allow me to bbq. And I tell my dad and my brother every time I talk to them the thanks for them for serving so that I can visit the gun forum on here and ar-15.com and show off the guns I own.

So thanks to all those that served or are going to serve and to those that made it home safe and extra thanks for the unfortunate son of bitches that gave their lives for us on the state-side so that we can continue our freedoms.

God bless America!!!!!!!!!!!

On this Memorial Day weekend, looks like you have some Marine Corps blood in you. Improvise, adapt, overcome. Nicely done!

Ive had to do that more times than I'd like to admit...

I was using a traeger grill this weekend and I have to say I'm in love with it. Kind of feels like cheating but when you taste it then it feels right

Nice

Ive got an old new braunfels charcoal grill (which will finally be out of storage soon). It does the job but I would like a propane in the near future.

3 burners..

You're in TX son, you need a minimum of 5 main burners and 1 side burner.

got tired of buying $250-300 grill's every 4-5 years. This will be my first expensive one. I can sure tell the difference just lifting the lid. The internals (which is what always rust out on mine in a few years) have a ten year warranty. That justifies the price difference in my book. Will see how it works out.

My last 2 have had the side burner and I've never used them. My grill now is only 3 burners and it works fine for me. Besides, this one is $700 which took me minute to get used to .
I was like that's expensive. Then I looked up the warranty and figured this one should last me 10 years at least.

I know where you live ...just a response to BeezNut's praise.. I'd never pay 700 for a grill. I'd spend the money on making a full outdoor kitchen.

Honestly, best grill I've ever owned was a clay hibachi. Fucking thing weighed 3 tons but was fucking awesome.

They sell a modern version but it's pricey:

Same thing as or close to a big green egg? I've eaten off of one but never manned it for a BBQ.

Same. You need to know how to cook with one though.. I see people using briquettes in them.

Mouth is salivating.. I'd throw chicken on the grill.. just salt, pepper and light marinade of shoyu, vinegar, sugar..

Never could reproduce the taste from it.

Original "eggs" were mfg in the 60's from Japan - Kamados / Hibachi. My father brought his from Japan in the early 70's. I've been looking for an original, but they're hard to find in decent condition at a decent price.
