The trick is to stay active enough in the relevant boards until a real gem comes along.

The cheaper the 3G gets, the more gems we find.

Quiet in here, huh?

I think I found my drug lord in Guatemala. Most people who have cars drive this.

Then I saw this down the street. Along with a MB G Truck.

That is all.

To Whom It May Concern,

I had my alignment performed at the Gainesville, VA location of Virginia Tire & Auto on December 11, 2011. I choose to go to this shop in particular simply because it was closer to my house than another shop that was charging the same amount of money for the same work, or so I thought. When I contacted the sales person at Virginia Tire & Auto, I explained my situation; the vehicle is lowered, has a camber kit newly installed, and needed to have the vehicle aligned. He explained to me that being a lowered vehicle, I would have to pay for the “custom alignment” and it would be $149.99 plus all taxes. I was completely fine with that charge as long as they would honor the same one year warranty that the other shop was offering me for that price. The sales representative assured me that they could do the work “no problem” and that there was an unlimited mileage one-year warranty on the alignment. With that assurance, I decided to go with VA Tire & Auto. While I was there, they were very friendly, helpful, explained the whole process, and made me feel good about my choice. The alignment took a little longer simply because it was a “custom alignment.”

Now, well within my one-year warranty that was promised to me, I returned to the shop because I was experiencing uneven camber wear on the passenger side of the vehicle. I spoke with a different sales representative and explained the concern I had, and he told me that the camber wear would definitely be because of an alignment issue. He made no mention of a charge whatsoever, and gladly took my keys in at 5:06 pm on Thursday, July 19, 2012 with the promise that it would be done before close of business that evening. I had my fiancée pick me up since I did not want to wait that long. At 9:30 pm that evening, I had not heard from the shop, so I called. The salesperson answered the phone and I asked him about the status of my vehicle. He returned to the phone and informed me that they had not begun working on it. This is where I began to get frustrated -- I can understand that they are busy, but they shouldn’t accept work on a vehicle when it cannot be completed (broken promise number one). I asked the salesperson when he expected the vehicle to be done and he assured me that it would be done that night regardless of how late they had to stay. I was appreciative of that. I decided to have my fiancée drop me back at the shop at 9:50 pm and wait. When we arrived, my car was still sitting in the same parking spot that I left it nearly five hours earlier.

I walked into the reception area, told them who I was and immediately, someone went out to my car and pulled it around back as if they forgot about my car even though I had called 20 minutes earlier. After waiting for another 30 minutes, the service manager informed me that the technician he had working that evening was not comfortable working on an aftermarket alignment/camber kit and he would feel better if his “more experienced” technician worked on the car the next morning. At this point, I really had no choice. I left the vehicle there overnight hoping that the “more experienced” technician would be able to complete the alignment the next day.

About Noon on Friday, I returned to the shop to check on my vehicle’s status. I spoke to yet a different sales representative who informed me that he had a couple cars in front of me that needed to be worked on first. I asked the salesperson when he expected it to be done since my car had been at the shop since Thursday evening at 5:06 pm. I had to work the rest of the day, so as long as it was done by 5:00 pm when I left work, I would be satisfied. While I was still on lunch, I received a call from someone at the shop telling me that the camber is way out in the rear and the front toe is off also and it would be $106 and change to get it realigned. In shock, I told the person that I purchased an upgraded alignment because it was a lowered car and I had paid for a one-year warranty. The representative contradicted the original salesperson and told me that there is no warranty on lowered vehicles, that the original salesperson was misinformed, and I would have to pay to have it re-done.

At this point I was very frustrated, so I asked to speak with the manager. Harry, the manager, explained the same thing that the previous person told me. He told me that he could not do anything for me since it’s a lowered vehicle except give me a “half off” price at $106 and change, which the previous representative told me was the cost. I explained to him that I came to this particular shop and paid $157.75 of my hard earned money simply because they offered a one-year warranty on the alignment (same as the other shop) and because it was closer to my home. Harry told me that the company offers NO warranty on a “custom alignment” because he has seen them go out in as early as 3,000 miles. My car had 36,xxx miles on it when it went into Virginia Tire & Auto, and now has 42,xxx miles. I went back to the shop to pick up my vehicle and was then informed that the camber kit is worn out after 6,000 miles and I need to have that replaced before I can get it realigned anyway.

In summary, my experience with this automotive shop is extremely negative. After numerous conversations with the manager to get him to honor the warranty that was included in my purchase and was promised when I first brought my car there, he refused. I wasted almost 24 hours of my time, getting rides from my fiancée, coworkers and friends trying to get back and forth from the shop to get this situation figured out with no resolution what-so-ever. I work in the service industry, and if one of my sales reps promises a customer something, whether it’s a correct, informed statement or they are misinformed, that is not my customer’s fault. WE are responsible for honoring the promise we made to our customer. It seems to me, and I’m sure other customers that have warranty work performed, that since they are not making any revenue on my car, they continued to push my car to the back of the line until I showed up at the shop and they jumped right on it. Horrendous customer service in my book, and it is something I would never dream of doing to any customer of mine. While I have no proof that the camber arms are worn out yet, I have a feeling that they made this up to get out of doing anything for me.

I will be filing this letter with the Better Business Bureau as well as filing a claim with my credit card company to have my money refunded on the basis that Virginia Tire & Auto is not fulfilling their verbal contractual obligation to honor my one year warranty. I will never be visiting this shop ever again for any services. I would prefer to drive hours to a different shop than take my chances here and be taken advantage of!

Sincerely,

Glenn Lindsay

Cliffs:

Take car to shop for alignment
Promised work WITH 1 year warranty
8 months later, camber wear problem
Take back to shop, not finished after sitting there for almost 24 hours
Can't do alignment
Want to charge, "they don't offer a warranty on lowered cars"
Sick is now mad
Fuck ya'll, I'm goin home.
File claim and get muh mu-fuckin' money back.

EDIT: Sick tried to be cool about it and resolve it but the shop people were dicks.
