Roughly 100 lbs = 1 hp. And yes you will get worse gas mileage because now you need to accelerate 300 extra pounds.

^^Bingo!

Your car has to work harder, thus using more gas! In the, put your tl on a diet thread, they recommend you don't fill your tank up all the way to full cause it adds extra weight, but this is only for the hardcard TL racers.

Did you even think about that question before you asked it? Why do you think they need huge semi trucks to pull a trailor with a heavy payload on it. Of course 300 lbs is going to slow you down and decrease economy. Its just simple physics.

Well, this has been beat to a dead horse quickly, but yes... it does make a difference. Honestly, though... the TL is not a hardcore race car, so if the system will make you happy, just put it in there. If you don't like it, you can take it back out.

I think 300 lbs is going to feel like a lot more power lost than 3 hp. I think it will feel more like -15-20hp.

I'd have to agree with that! The 100 lbs = 1 hp formula implies that doubling the weight of the vehicle would only cost the equivalent of about 38 horsepower?!

well, 300lbs is about 7% of the TL's weight, so I'd think your car balance and thus handling would be really screwed

I just removed the spare tire and tools out of the trunk. Won't notice a diff but just knowing I've done something to lighten the vehicle somewhat makes it worth it. If that makes sense? Sorta..

add the UR Crank Pulley and CAI and I'm golden

Throws off the handle a lot (IMO), esp around sharp turns

idk about that. today i had 500 extra pounds with me (3 passengers in the back seat) and it felt like i was pulling a trailer. it felt way more than just a 5hp loss. more like a 50 hp loss.

to be honest, unless I'm driving outside the city in the mountains, I won't ever use the spare. BCAA has me covered.
