I agree with you weight is a big part of the equation. From other SCCA Club Racers the rough equation they go by is 1hp = 10lbs. But this is for a race car that goes left right and brakes ... Not just a drag race. And car weights are more 2000 lbs and engines sub 200whp. I'm sure the dynamics change as the numbers increase.

Also depends on the race a quick 0-45 the light car will have an advantage but if you do a 1 mile long run or even 0-100 mph the higher HP start to really show their advantage.

Also the tires on the car can make a world of a difference.

Yea I wasnt sure about the percentages, but I knew it was about a 10% difference between the two.

Good point about the gear ratio's as well.

Why dont we stop stipulating and someone post up some actual numbers!
