2500 mile trip.. observed gas mileage and other ramblings...
I had took another long trip in my TL this week; this one unplanned unfortunately. I drove up to the Chicagoland area from Austin and back. I noticed the following fuel-economy trends:
Other Miscellaneous things I observed:
- Use the Cruise control whenever possible. You'll get the best mileage.
- At 70mph, I get a mostly consistent 32mpg
- At 75mph, I get a mostly consistent 31mpg
- At 80Mph, I get a very consistent 30mpg (this is where I spent much of the time)
- At 85mph, I get a mostly consistent 29mpg
Other Miscellaneous things I observed:
- I saw a total of 3 TLs on the road during my journey. I saw more 300Cs than I did TLs, consistent with my experience back in early June. People still stared at my car when I went places, and I had a Mercedes 320 owner come up and talk to me at length about it.
- The TL has really good hard highway passing power, once you wait the obligatory 1.5 seconds for the transmission to kick down to third
- XM Radio needs a good R&B station.
- Isaac Hayes (the singer of the song "Shaft") is a nighttime DJ in Memphis
- Those side mirrors really are bug magnets, unlike on any car I've ever seen (but to be fair, this is my first white vehicle)
- Once again, my Valentine One saved my ass countless times during this trip. It has paid for itself many times over.

Thanks for your reports...
I like food in his restaurant (Isaac Hayes)... BTW, I got the similar MPG as yours, and I have put 6k roads trips into this car already.

Those are most encouraging numbers. I'm seeing in the neighborhood of 26 MPG during my break-in phase.. I just crested 500 miles and one week old yesterday. None of this driving has been on a trip, so I'm pretty pleased.
Mileage is not a deciding factor for me in a car like this.. I consider it icing on the cake if it's good. And your numbers are very good in my book. I'll be taking a road trip in under two months of around 1200 miles, so I want to get this puppy nicely broken in and with it's first oil change before that.

I just drove 1300 miles to Colorado, and my average mileage was 29-30. This was driving 80-85 mph with the AC on. Will be adding in my own thread.
XM does have good R & B: 60 (Various R & B groups), 61 (mostly 90's and ought's), 62 (slower $ & B), and 63 (60's and 70's classics).

Not a Blowhole
My engine is really green (I just hit 600 miles), and I did my first longish drive yesterday, startinbg with about 400 miles. From Richmond to DC and back. i cruised at 70-72 mph, air on, XM listening to some good R&B (of all things, plus Deep Tracks was playing some good stuff). I was not nursing the throttle, but I look far ahead, and modulate my lane changes pretty well. Anyway, including the inevitable "no apparent cause" traffic jams/slowdowns, my average for the entire trip was 32 mpg. I think that is amazing, esp for a tight engine. Air conditioning on as well. So the car weighs 3600, and I make it 3800. Nice job, Acura!
Also, when I hit the 600 mile mark, I waited another few, and stopmped on it, threw it down to 4rd gear, and it had lots of sack for passing. I was surprised.
