2008 TL Transmission

I have a 2008 TL regular and i have about 1300 miles on it. I feel like the transmission is shifting hard. I don't know if its just breaking in or what. Does anyone else feel that their tranny on a brand new TL is shifting hard.

Plus my airbag light just went on.

And i notice that my brakes are not brembo like my 2006 model so the response and performance is not as good as my 2006 TL.

My sunroof rattles.

I am dropping it off at the dealer to get all this checked out. I figured this is my 2nd one the least it can do is live up to its 2006 predecessor.

How ya all feeling about your 08's?

it is a different transmission, from the RL, right? could have something to do with it.

so you went from a manual to an automatic, correct? that could also be it. if not, then how did you get brembos?

My airbag light just went on too! I took it up to the dealership monday to get it checked out. They told me that it was a faulty sensor and they would have to order the part and bring the car back in to get it replaced. Its covered under the warranty so theres no cost to me which is the upside of it. Thats the only problem I had out of my 08. It has about 9500 miles on it.

I haven't noticed my 08 shifting hard (I only have 700 miles on it though) but I have noticed that it downshifts harder when coming to a stop than the 04 I traded in. It actually seems to help with the braking although it is a bit unnerving. Like you, I'm thinking it just has something to do with the break-in period so I'm going to drive it a while longer before asking the dealer about it.

FYI if your airbag went on do you have the nav system? My airbag light went on too like a month after I bought the car - I found out the airbag light gets triggered if there is a small amount of weight on the passenger seat (my laptop was enough to trigger it). The car automatically disables the passenger airbag if it detects that light but on the Nav it sends you a message telling you. If you don't have the nav I don't know if it will or not.

i believe he referring to the side airbag indicator in the instrument panel, i dont think the OP is referring to the passenger airbag cutoff..

Passenger Airbag Cutoff (From Manual p 28)

Your vehicle has a side airbag cutoff system designed primarily to protect a child riding in the front passenger’s seat. Although Acura does not encourage indicator will go out. The side airbagmay also shut off if a short adult leans sideways, or a larger adult slouches and leans sideways into the airbag’s deployment path. Objects placed on the front passenger seat can also cause the side airbag to be shut off.

yah. the car disables the airbags if it senses light weight on the front passenger seat to prevent injuries. airbags can be life threatening to young kids so our TLs disable the front passenger airbags if a weight of 80 pounds or less is detected in the front passenger seat.

im not 100% sure but thats what the dealerS told me when i purchased my car.

I'm talking about the actual airbag light thats right next to the P(ark) in the instrument cluster. Its a red light when its on. Not the amber light that comes on above the NAV screen.
