2008 TL -> Lamin-X fog -> covers - > Yellow or Tint?

Hi

I've had a 2008 TLS for almost a month now and I think it's time to start modifying it. With winter fast approaching here in canada, I am limited to what I want to do, so I figured I would keep it simple. Starting with tinting the fogs, tails + a 3000k HID kit for the fogs. (Gloss black vinyl roof and coilovers to come right after winter)

So what I would like to have you opinions on are,

1. Fogs -> Yellow or tint? (either tint(lightest) or gunsmoke(med) ) Yellow would seem like the obvious choice for most, but I was thinking maybe it would compliment the roof, side markers, and blacked out everything else on the car to tint them??

2. Tail lights -> Tint(lightest) or gunsmoke (med) how dark should I go considering its already blacked out

Here's a pic of my car. Thanks for any input

What about blue tint for the fogs? Just bought some blue vinyl for mine, so hopefully it'll look decent, and different.

And how are they already blacked out? any pics? if anything I'd say clear the tails and smoke them. There's someone on here that does that, ACK is his name I think.

Apologies for being a buzzkill, but since you have fogs, it's kind of counterintuitive to tint them, making them less effective for use. If you want a color for them, I'd go with yellow, so at least it doesn't significantly decrease light output.

I was never really a fan of tinting (darkening) lights - it doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's just my opinion.

You have a nice Type-S. I'd leave it as is.

If you're going 3k and want them more yellow laminate them, don't use tint. I bought my laminate here http://grfxpstore.com/store/product/885035996 they are only $10!

I had the 3k morimoto HID fog kit and it is pretty darn yellow already. No tint or lamination.

Can you post of pic of this or where you got the overlays from? I know someone that is going for a greener look to his HID fogs with yellow overlay. I told him to put in 8-10k fogs fogs with the yellow overlay to get green light, but if he can just replace the overlay, that would be much easier. Thanks!!

at first i was like hell no but now im lookin at em and im thinking it might not be a half bad idea to get optic blue. i have yet to see what they look like on a tl but im thinking itd be more "class" than "jdm"

have you installed yours yet? curious to know how they come out. and would anyone know with a blue film + 3k hid, will the light output be yellow still?

and when i said blacked out i meant how everything is black housing

A blue light with a yellow overlay is going to give you a green light. If you want your fogs to be blue, you don't need an overlay for that. You can get 6k, 8k, or 10k HIDs depending on how dark you want the blue to be. A blue overlay on top of 6-10k HIDs will only intensify the blue color. Kinda like how my pic looks with the 3k bulbs and yellow overlay.

The overlay is not for light output. Only reason I want them is 100% daytime aesthetics

But I think I'm going to settle on the lamin-x optic blue. I mean worst case its only 15$ and I'll get the yellow

thanks everyone

Check this site out http://grfxpstore.com/store/product/885035996 they have a nice color blue one. I have the yellow overlay from here and they are very nice, plus it's only $10.

Still waiting for them to arrive but be sure to post pics of yours! I'm going for the same thing, just daytime aesthetics, which is why I bought LEDs for them. Cheap and easy install.

As for your tails, I think cleared and smoked would look awesome. There's a lot of people that have those tails so I'm sure if you search around you'll be able to find how it looks.

Have you thought of Debadging and blacking out your emblem? Plasti dip is great for experimenting to see if you like it. If not it peels right off

That looks good and different. I was gonna say if you use yellow overlays go what Machine did. I went with Lamin-x and it didnt cover the whole lens the way I was wanting.

Although with 3k lights and yellow overlay it looks awesome both night and day.

Other mods to look into are the fog light stock switch mod with relay and the LED DRL module mod. I also like my KPTechnology window roll up module.

There are several mods that won't alter your tires or ride height that are fun and useful to do.

Interior LED's iSimple and such.

Car looks great. Nice Type S.

I have a canadian car so I have OEM DRL module. Was considering putting yellow DRLS (non hid) but now that i did blue fogs, im thinking blue DRL

The window roll up module looks intresting. Will have to look into that

Next immediate mods will be roof spoiler + window visors. My debate now is, gloss vinyl black the roof + roof spoiler or leave it all white

I would leave it white personally even though I do like the look of the black roof.

Plastidip the front chrome - grille.

5 or 6k drl led's are def. nice.
Look for my build thread page 2 and you can see some pics.
