2008 TL & Geico

Folks,

2008 TL comes standard with daytime running lights. Geico is not automatically adding this discount on their policy holders.

there database does not register that we have daytime running lights. CALL GEICO and get your discount added on otherwise they'll keep charging you extra money.

Although my 06 TL does not come with DRL, GEICO just raised the premium on my 06 TL even though I never had an accident or made a claim. The premium for my 06 TL used to be the same as my 03 Maxima. Could the increase be based on TLs' overall worse claim history than Maximas? Are TL drivers - particulary TLS drivers - more aggressive and accident prone than Maxima drivers? Inquiring minds want to know.

TLS have been out 2 years while Maxima's have been out for a long time. I had a 2002 Nissan Maxima. I loved it. awesome car!

I just think Geico is looking to raise rates on anything and everything. I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to add $12.50 discount on my policy for DRL. This is crazy! I would hate to imagine how many millions of new 2008 TL drivers are out there without this discount because GEICO does not have their systems updated.

Millions of dollars are being profited on this.

I just traded in 06 TL for 08, with $2500 rebate on 2008 TL models i couldn't resist.

However i feel as if 06 TL had better performance breaks then the 08. I feel like they did cut some corners on 2008 model.

I need to investigate this one. I've had GEICO for the past year, and didn't know that there was an additional discount for DRL. DRL's became standard on the TL in the 2007 model year.

no idea the dealer wouldn't budge on the price so I asked if they could include it and they worked it into the $600 a month payment...

I got quotes from all over and Geico was the cheapest, by over $150 so they were an easy choice. Not to mention that I pay only a tiny bit more with my brand new TL than I did with a mid 1990's car!

Running light discount? I'll be sure to call and find out more on this.

if they do it's because it's a "saftey feature". just like an alarm can save you a couple bucks....

Remember that defensive driving you took... Its too bad you lost the certificate, or you could send it to them, tell them you are going to look for it if they actually want it. If not, you dont have to dig for it

Thats actually a big discount.

Keep in mind that you can buy the DRL adapters (I did for my 06). I use my headlights more, the highbeams make people get out of my way.

Anyone know HOW MUCH the discount is for DRL's? Is it like $10 every 6 months, or a substantial amount?

You bet. DRL have a discount as a safety feature and geico does not have that info in their database so when you add the car you do not get the discount. i had to call them and fight with them to get this discount. I have now a $14.00 discount!! WOOHOO!

Wow Geico needs help, I told them DRL was standard equipment, this was their response...
"I am sorry for the inconvenience but we if the vehicle does not come up with Daytime Running Lights information with the Vehicle Identification Number we would need documentation showing that the vehicle is equipped with this."

Insurance companies have their own complex formulas for calculating rates by a combination of geographical location, driving records, driver's claim history, a specific car model's claim history & repair costs, driver's age, and installed safety & anti-theft devices. Geico quoted me a $12.50 discount every 6 months if I install daytime running lights, something I'm seriously considering doing this Spring.

AIG quoted me 4½ times what I pay Geico for the exact same coverage. F**kin pricks!

That is a joke. They told me the same garbage i told them that it is their job to make sure they have all the facts for the car. by not adding this discount they are withholding legal discounts.

Basically tell them you and millions of 2007+ TL owners will open up a class action lawsuit. Payout millions in settlements or $10.00 in discounts?

you are likely talking to 'Bob' in India, who is not authorized to think for himself. Escalate things to a manager. As a matter of fact, keep asking for the next manager up until you get what you want.

about 5 years ago I had a Lincoln LSC that I picked up for real short money. So I wasnt worried about carrying theft and collision on it. I had always claimed my newer trucks garaged at my work rather than my home because at the time that was actually the case due to having a company vehicle and not enough space for both.

When I went to register the Lincoln the basic Insurance with my home as where I garaged the cose was going to be about $850. If I kept the garaging where I worked it was $425. Where I worked was a suburb town, where I lived was a little larger city. You wouldnt think that they would gouge you that much considering that it was just the basic coverage.
