2008 acura tl type s

Hi guys, i wanted to find out what you guys think about your cars so far. Especially people who came from 2nd gen tl or have drove a 7 series. Im debating between a new type or 750LI. So far im leaning towards acura. Is there any issues that i should keep in mind when purchasing one? Any flaws? advice? Thanks in advance.

Truthfully im leaning towards it. So far bimmer owners seem like dicks and from most i hear its expensive to take care of. Bushings etc. 8.5 qtf of damn motor oil. I dont wanna spend 100 bucks just for a damn oil change. I dont know i wouldnt feel to good without vtec.

I just went from an '02 TL-S to a '08 TL-S. I really liked my '02 but the '08 is a whole different car. It handles and drives much better. My wife said my '02 looked like a grandpa car and the '08 looks much sportier. If you want an '08 TL-S, you better act quick as there are not many left and will be going quick with the $3500 customer cash this month.

I also came from a 2nd Gen TLS. Definitely go for the new TLS instead of the BMW. You are young and you will regret it if you get the beemer because there is no mods for it and $100 oil changes are the least of your problems.

WHAT???

TL-S vs a 750 bmw? HA! BMW without a hesitation.

I came from 2nd Gen, went with BMW, then Infiniti, now to TL-S... This is my last honda vehicle.

Entry to luxury vs BMW flagship... hmmm....

Why are you cross shopping a TL-S with a 750iL? They aren't even sort of comparable vehicles? The BMW is about a foot and a half longer and over double the purchase price. I am sure they are offering big discounts with the new 7-series coming out, but still...probably a $35K price difference (assuming you are talking new).

And then there is the question of why such an expensive car... If you buy such amazing cars at such a young age, there is really no where else to go but down in the future. I am guessing you don't own a house or have a 401K (of any notable size). The average owner of a 750iL likely makes about $200K+ a year. What is the point of buying/leasing that caliber of car at 21 y/o?

I am really not railing on you...I just totally don't get it. I was pretty conservative with cars at 21 y/o. That allowed me to buy my first house at 26 y/o and then pay cash for all future cars. It just makes it much easier to sleep at night.

My $.02.

lol +2 on comparing a tl to a 7 series. Like comparing apples to oranges. If you like the constant requirement to service the car enjoy that. I'd stick with a TL.

^ Guys, STOP misleading.

BMW - 4 YEARS of ZERO $$$ Maitenance. Oil Change, Tire Rotation, Wiper Blades..etc.. all FREE

I'm just comparing the cars...

But for a 21 yr old to be behind a 750? Sure, if your last name is Gates.

its not misleading at all really..
two totally different cars. The 4 year maintenance free is a good deal though. Breaks for a bmw are usually over a grand a lone.

Im not worried about the cost or anything. I dont want to pick up a car that iw ont enjoy or else im going to spending money getting little things fixed. I do understand the fact spending less now will help me out, in a way i kind of agree if i do get a 750Li now it leaves nothing to look forward to Im leaning towards type s. As for the car im going to put 15-20 down so i have a VERY LOW payment

$20K down doesn't leave you with very low payments with a 750iL! Base price of that car is $80,725. Check the box for most (not all) of the options and you are at $94,775! Even with discounts, you would be looking at a $60K loan or $1146/month for 60 months! 48 months would make that $1400/month! Ouch! That is my mortgage payment (without taxes)!!!

Good luck!

PS. I love my TL-S (and S2K).

I am glad to hear you are getting the TL-S. You will love the car. That and it isn't exactly like you will be slumming it driving around in it.

So how did you manage a $20K down payment at age 21?

911 Turbo!!! Or 3 TL-S...hmm, one in NBP, WDP and KBP

I still want a Bentley GT though...one day... one day...hopefully.

To the OP, in your case I would get something in between, go for a CLK or 335i, you'll have the best of both worlds with those, you lucky SOB.

PS I wish I had your problems

I am personally in the same boat, but I'm choosing between an IS250 RWD manual, and a 07 TL Type-S. I think a formidable comparison would be the IS350 vs. TL Type-S and the IS250 vs. Base model TL.

Next door neighbor has an IS250 AWD auto and it is a really nicely built, substantial car. Doesn't have anywhere near the power of the TL, let alone the TL-S though. Lots of really nice features, some not even available on the TL-S (i.e. push button start, steerable headlights, memory passenger seat, etc.)...but the one she has stickered for nearly $42K (so it should be nice).

I am not sure why you guys are cross shopping a 750iL and a Porsche against the TL Type S. They are completely different vehicles. What do you need your vehicle for? A TL is a practical vehicle that will serve you well on a daily basis. The Porsche is a weekend car and I am not sure if it makes a good daily driver. The 750iL is a huge car and is no way in the TL's class. From a cost and practicalilty standpoint, I would choose the TL and plus I own one.

Maybe you should get your damn facts straight. Who even said im buying a new 750? IM talking about a used one with about 30-40k miles. They cost around 35-45. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT AND THEN OPEN YOUR MOUTH. Thank you.

first off nice rims (same rim's and color on my 3g)I came from a nicely modded 1g cl (loved it).My TL-s made me forget about her real quick. I love everything about this car.I just passed 20k and still get the same butterflies when I drive her as the day I brought her home.........

OP - Which car turns your head more when you see one driving on the street? The TL-S, or the 7? Get the one that practically snaps your neck.

Stick with TL-S for sure, I personally wouldn't go with the 7 series as it is $$$$$ to maintainance that machine. And again it is MY opinion, a 7 series doesn't look right with anyone under 30

Whoever is saying to get a TL over a 7-series is a fucking idiot. Let's come back to reality people and out of our Acura bubble...

...and the bmw has free maintenance for FOUR years, not to mention it's a SEVEN SERIES. My mom had an 03 745 back in the day and whenever I would sit shotgun I felt like a king.

It depends, if you like the sportier look and able mod the crap out of it = TL-S
or if you like the subtle look and god forbid you get into an accident and have to pay with your first born = BIMMER
Good luck playa

You said the key point right there..."BACK IN THE DAY". Would you still feel like a king riding shotgun in that 5 year old 745? The OP is looking for a new TL-S or a USED 7-series for the same price. Something that will likely be 3+ years old and have 40K miles on it. There goes the four years of free maintenance. In fact the warranty will either be up or almost up. That means the OP has to consider maintenance costs. That could add a couple grand a year in unexpected costs.

Like I said before, the 7 series is one sweet ride but for a 21 year old?

21 years old. Too funny.

Get a cheaper practical car. Pay off your debts. Don't incur more. Think long term and prove that you are at least somewhat mature....though your reply above proves you aren't.
