Programming directions are posted on page 3 I believe...

If you wanted to be funny though, read your estore invoice. It says "installation included". I plan to hold my dealers feet to the fire when it comes to this.

If that don;t work, FLBusa has noted here many times that a good locksmith can do the cut and program for $30.

Stupid question...what do you ask when you talk to the locksmith?

Do you program immobilizer chip for cars?

I just looked in the phonebook, seem like most locksmith seem to come to your house to do this.

Did you guys to the actual locksmith store or have them come to your house?

Thanks

I plan to state... "installation is included according to this... this would indicate to me, the consumer, that would include cutting of the key and programming it to my car"... If they deny em I'll call Acure estore support and inform them of the perception they're giving and see what they can do for me.

It would actually probably fly if the key wasn't modified... and it still may.

Yes... It's the same chip.

That's why my '07 key that I've been using since Tuesday works.

In a previous post I stated that...

If your key has the letter "V" stamped on it then it has a Type 4 chip in it and will work.

All TSX's and all Gen 3 TL's will work.

puiyingbread...

You can not program the chip yourself.

Let me explain.

There are three things that need to be done to the key in order for it to work.

1. You need to get the ridges cut into the edge of the key.

2. You need to get the immobilizer chip programmed.

3. You need to program the remote.

Hope this helps.

Pete

might sound stupid, but will the keys' color change (metal portion) after time because you shaved off that thin layer of coating on top of the key to make it fit, what i mean is due to wear and tear.

2. You need to get the immobilizer chip programmed. (only dealers can do it coz require some machine)

3. You need to program the remote. (on page 2 instruction)

go look at the pictures posted of the disassembly of the switchblade.
it's clearly shown where the immobilizer is located.

I called the dealer I ordered my TL key from and asked him if "installation" was included. He said no, and it would cost 1 hr of labor cut the key and to set up the computer and program the immobilizer chip for the car. I asked him if a locksmith could do this and he insisted that only a Honda/Acura dealer can do it because the computer looks up some code and/or registers the number with Honda. Now I have no idea how some Honda Database decides if my car starts or not. I know from reading this post that a locksmith with the right equipment can program the immobilizer so either the Acura guy didn't know what he was talking about, or he was trying to get me to spend $90 in his shop. The later is not going to happen! I suspect a Honda dealer can also do this and their labor rate may well be less.

puiyingbread...

You are missing the point here...

When I say YOU... I mean... YOU (as in not me)

1. You need to get the ridges cut into the edge of the key.
You see you're trying too hard here...

Stop thinking and listen to me. OK?

Find a locksmith...

Give him your key...

Pay him $40.00

Drive home with a big smile because you didn't screw up a really nice key by opening it up and trying to put your old chip in it.

There is a saying for what you're trying to do.

"Penny Wise" and "Pound Foolish"

It's like driving 50 miles to save 25 cents.

Items 1 and 2 need to be done by a locksmith. Item 3 you do by yourself.

Now stop driving me crazy before I throw a tomato at you.

When FLBusa mills the 07 key the ONLY thing FLBusa is doing, is making it a blank key with grooves. This means that FLBusa makes the size of the 07 key smaller, shapes it, and puts the grooves in it to match the 04-06 TL BLANK key)

You then bring it to a locksmith with your 04-06 key you already have and the locksmith will duplicate the "ridges" on to the 07 key and will program the immobilizer chip.

You yourself then have to program the remote on the key....

i don't know how many ways this can be put :/

I'm the guy with the 2007 Base fit that wants to do this mod ^^

There's an H stamped on the sidewinder key .. does that mean the immobilizer wont work ?

And as for the transmitter, how do you determine if it will work or not, trial and error ??

I've taken a couple pics of my key and remote, maybe it will shed some light to this situation.

Thank you all in advance for taking your time to help me out with this. The switchblade key fob is just so hot !!

I have my key!

I ordered my key AFTER there was a "backorder" and the dealer called today and said it has arrived!!

I wonder if dealers have an allotment they can order, maybe they can get enough keys to cover the number of '07 TLs they have . . . . . .

I'll PM FLBusa when I actually have the key in hand provided his inbox is not full . . . . .

Question for FLBusa - you mentioned you had to jiggle the key to get it to work since the locksmith didn't line the blank up correctly - do you expect to make another key for yourself that won't need to be jiggled in the ignition?
(I'm just looking for a "no-brainer" blank for the locksmith so there's no chance he/she can mess up my key) . . . . I know you've probably already fixed it, but I wanted to bring it up to be sure . . . .

His inbox is full :-) im keeping a track of it. Been full for about 3 days now i believe, probably being bombarded by requests and people trying to get into the key line up

Maybe Busa can list a top 30 of the people who will be getting the keys so we can see our position? This might happen when the new thread opens up after he makes a deal with the mods.

I just ordered and paid for my key driver 1 today. I got a price match and they match it for $35. yay.

First they guy thought it was just a key blank after see that price. Then I told him im pretty sure its the whole thing with the remote. Then he said the 35111 is just a key blank. I told him to type in the whole thing. Then I guess he notice is it the whole thing and price matched it for me.

well i've spent about an hour catching up on this thread. seems like there is some significant progress. I'm dying to get that key!!

my question is.. do I have to buy the key from estore or acurahondaworld.com or does FLBusa have keys available for sale?

I thought I read somewhere in the bible of threads that he bought a few for people to buy from him?!?! Maybe I was getting dizzy from all the reading.

If not, then I need to get movin on getting a key and getting in line!!

I can't remember exactly how many he purchased, it was liek 10-20. So I assume if your one of the first 10-20 you can get one from him. Other than that you have to get it from acura e-store not acurahondaworld.com
