Has anyone switched out their 04-06 sideview mirrors with the new 07's? Seems like a cool mod, but im not too sure if there would be any wiring to the indicators involved.

 

I have the '07 side view mirrors on order to install on my '04 TL. I'm not brave enough to do it myself but my mechanic/body shop owner told me to go ahead and order them, he'll plug 'em in and see what happens, and if the wiring harness doesn't support the turn signals, he'll make it work.

I will let you know how it works out.

Not really necessary, but I just like the look of the turn signals on the mirrors.

 

Though I too would really like to have the new mirrors, I'm happy with my modified front fender side markers that blink with the turn signals. It's a lot cheaper to install 2 relays and 2 diodes on each side than buy and install new mirrors.

The new mirrors will not signal just by merely installing them. Having been under there, I can tell you there will be wiring issues, but they probably won't be too monumental.

Another issue is color. If your '04/5/6 TL's color isn't available on the '07, your body shop will have to paint them to match ... at additional cost of course.

That is what turned me away from this mod. The local body shops wanted almost as much as the cost of the mirrors to paint them Anthracite.

 

Thanks for the info... after I typed that post, I found the previous thread that explains how to do the wiring. I printed it out and will give it to my mechanic. Doesn't look too difficult. Besides, he's very good, and has never failed me yet.

As for the color, fortunately my '04 TL is nighthawk black pearl, which is still available on the '07s, so I am getting the mirrors prepainted in the correct color.
