2007+ MERGED THREAD, SPECS ARE NOW ON PAGE 1, POST #1

i am saving up to buy a TL. I like the 2006 style but have to save up more money. unfortuanelty when i save up enough money it will probably be 2007. my question is does anyone know if the 2007 will look like the 2006 or will there be a different design for 2007?

chris

Changes to the current model should be minor for 2007. The 3G TL was only introduced in '04.

Minor refresh for 2007. The usual exterior items that might be changed are the design for bumpers, side skirts, headlights, tail-lights and rims. Interior items that could be changed is the Navi system (TSX got an upgrade I believe for their refresh). Normally they aim to make the car look more aggressive with the refresh.

Honda usually goes 4 years then changes body style. If they keep to that 2008 will be the 4th generation.

Honda/Acura redesigns their cars too fast, making people who own them feel like their's are outdated. So our TL will be old news in 2 years and look less striking when they have the facelift next year

There are 5 model years per generation, i.e.:

1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 is the Second Gen

2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 is the Third Gen

The 4th gen will be a 2009 model. There will be a facelift for 07.

Maybe only those taillights will make it to the refresh but everything else is the same. The bumpers, hood, trunk lid is the same. The theme of a refresh is to make the car look more aggressive and this car, which is TL designed to go to China, looks less aggressive than the TL we have here right now.

Well first of all, the TL we have has never been sold outside North America.. so you dont know that this is some sort of "special asian edition". Its only been sold in the US, Canada and Mexico.

The TL wont be sold in China until the 2007 model year.. and the TL will be refreshed in its mid-model change also in MY 2007.

Since its left hand drive in China, they basically are getting non-nav Mexican/Canadian TL's.

I'm in the market for a TL too but by the time I get around to buying it, should be 2007, I've been huntint all over trying to find what all the 07's will have but there's little to no information presently available. Would be cool if someone did post anything they find in here

Anyone else think it's odd to put the reverse lights and third brake light down on the lower lip of the bumper?

I thought the third brake light was put at eye level or higher in the center rear for safety, and I'm guessing you would have more difficulty seeing those down so low.

Yeah the reverse lights like stupid there.

The bumper is made to be bumped. What happens if you get tapped? The lights bust? Just doesn't make sense. Nothing should be on the bumper in my opinion.

The older cars it seems like the bumper had a purpose, to get bumped. Some cars even had like a rubber strip that was like 2 in wide going on it. If you got bumped no body knew.

Now today if you get tapped, you need to repaint the whole bumper. Its like these cars can't be touched no more.

I am always looking at my bumpers after parking to make sure no one touched it.

I can't imagine living in NY where everyone parks with the logic, back into the guy to see where I am at, then hit the guy in front of me, then pull back an inch. I am good. lol lol

Its amazing...

The bumper lights will NOT be on the 2007 TL for the US. In this case it is for China only. US regulations require the 3rd brake light to be mounted higher (trunk lid level or higher)

Wonder what the rationale is behind putting them so low for the Chinese model? To be a fly on the wall in that meeting.

Look closely, Ken. As you can see, the 3rd brake light is still at the top of the back windshield. It appears the thing in the bottom of the bumper is a red reflective strip (TSX has two, one on each side) between the reverse lights.

Do you think it looks more aggressive?? The mirrors makes it less agressive becuase the ones we have look more sleek. it looks like they just took those off the RL and put it on the TL.

I fail to see how mirrors make a car more or less aggressive. Short of having big dumbo ears from a Mack truck

I think what he means is that the current TL's mirrors are edgy and those are rounded. The rounded mirrors clash with the angular lines of the TL, and I see what he means.

Also the tailights would look better on the lighter colored cars if they didn't have those black lines on them, at least IMO.

last generation Accord ran 5 years (1998-2002). They're now sticking to the 5 yr. cycle to see what the Toyota Camry prototype looks like so they can make some last minue pricing & packaging adjustments to stay one step ahead. Next gen. Accord is due in 08'

You should've researched before you buy a car. So you did make a mistake of buying a 06 becuase the 07 is a facelift. But myself, i still went ahead and bought a 06 TL also knowing that 07 is a facelift!!!

Probably isn't the right place for it, but thought I'd share the wealth.....

Well not sure if you take to trading stocks well, but I've made a nice coin off one particular stock BKMP within the last month and expect to make more here in the coming months. It's a US holding company that has a 20% stake in a Canadian media company that offers a 24 hour Fight Channel in Canada. Basically you get MMA, wrestling, Muay Thai, Pride Fights, etc all on one cable channel. If you know anything about UFC, once this network gets a carrier here in the US, this shit's gonna blow and this company has already signed rights to be the network company to show this programming in the US.

I'll post a link if you or anyone wants to do their homework or if the mods edit this, you can just PM me. Aside from dj'ing on the weekends, I daytrade full time so take it for what it's worth, but I'll be rolling with a supercharger here in the next couple of months for sure.

best of luck

Model year just doesn't matter much to me. If I find a style/features/color that I LOVE, then I buy the car, and I'm generally happy with it until the wheels fall off. I had Prelude Si for 10 years like that, and I expect to have the TL about as long; the car's just too cool not to enjoy every day.

(the proposed Tail lights are pretty groovy though)

Lightbulb Acura TL 2007 ?

Is the Acura TL 2007 going to be the same as the 06 TL? What year are they changing the body and chassis? What is going to be new? Is there a awd version? Anyone with pic or info.

Thanks

Not another 2007 thread.... please search for the other threads on this topic. No one knows what's going to be on the 2007 TL.

Will eventually merge all these threads into one big one.....

ken1997tl - Do you have it on good authority that the '07 might indeed appear like that?

I'm really frustrated at not finding any info on this. The features (keyless?), etc. it 'might' have. Zero ability to know whether to hold out or buy now. The changes may be minimal or a "freshening up" as they say - but they can be very important.
Are they not on display at the current auto shows? Anyone gone to one?

Anyone know when it would hit the streets? Summer? Fall? I know the new Camry is coming out in about a month, but don't know how Acura schedules theirs.

No one definitively knows what changes the 07 will have. It won't be known until summer, when Honda lets the info out. The cars will hit the streets in the fall. We can sit here all day and talk about what we want/would like/we need/etc. but it's moot...what's being done is decided and we won't know what it is for some time.
