2005 tl hid...

So what's the upgrade nowadays...
I am pulling bumper to add fogs and LED bulbs
I have a LED bulb in the stock fog location and can tell it's a tad whiter....

SO...

I want the 5,000K, maybe 6,000k if it stays white white tiny blue hint..
basically a tad whiter than the stockers...
Want to get brighter if possible too.

Osram seemed to be the shit!
$135

Morimoto in 5500K @ $50 a real close contender?

Anyone having nice Black friday or Cyber Monday deals for as well?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I have the Mori 5500K on my passenger side and it compares to the Phillips 85122 in my driver side in terms of color and light output. It is only very slightly yellower than it, only a side by side comparison with trained eye could see the difference. I put it in there during the summer to check and haven't removed it because it's so hard to notice and I'm lazy.

It's very white, but no tint of blue. If you want a tint of blue, go CBI or go 6500K on the Mori.

TRS will have a Black Friday sale, so you might want to wait a little bit.

you can hear fan over motor and exhaust?
Are they plug and play?

One big benefit is the HID balast & ignitors are no longer a worry right?!

But the fan becomes one. The fan can be heard when the car is not started but the headlights are on. I'm not too sure why you'd want to do this rather than find bulbs that you like... LED headlight kits are good for halogen bulb replacement, not so popular when it comes to replacing working HID.

Not necessarily going led. Just saw it and looking for input in addition to the hid bulb.

I think the sale is already started on the CBIs.

Yesterday it was 160 but now it is 135

then again, it doesn't say "sale price" on their site though, maybe 135 is the new "everyday low prices" (walmart lol) for the CBI bulbs now

correct!

i think some people managed to do it without removing the bumper but it's very difficult and your arms will get marked up.

i'd buy the CBIs in a heartbeat if the conversion rate was better.
135 usd = 180 cad

I've changed the passenger side one through the wheel well. It was stupid, it took as long if not longer than removing the bumper and I went in "blind". Only reason is that my bumper is a b**** to remove because Canada salt and bolts stuck.

I'm really OCD with the bulb too, I don't want anything to touch it and going in blind I know i'll probably hit the walls of the projector trying to put it in place
if not the projector walls, i'd probably hit it off some metal or dirty wire harness on the way looking for the headlight hole lol

If it gets coated in grease just spit on it and wipe it with your t-shirt. It'll be fine. Swear!

I felt where I had to go with my fingers. DO disconnect your battery and move away anything that could shock you. Like seriously, you will die if you get shocked and that's not worth losing your radio presets.

^^^when I saw it, though too good to be true however after seen they are authorize dealer for Orsam and Philips then I know its legit. I initial asked TRS for price match but their response was "Our product is Genuine therefore it reflect the $186 price" Well after I have it install saw a major difference compare to OEM bulb and yes it got whiter/brighter as the aging goes on. I think the break in period is around 50 hours of use.

Between 0 and 12 years I'd say.

Mine are original, still working fine, 2004 model. YMMV.

wonder if it's worth nabing up new balast & ignitors like these with black friday deals and swap all at once??

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/co...l#.Vlefd3arRD8

If so worth it to go to 55w version?

55w brings a different set of problems. Melting connectors, damaged bowls after some time, etc etc. 35w is plenty for most people, buy CBI, don't regret it.

There's no reason to replace your ballasts and ignitors until they go bad, if they go bad.

OSRAM CBI's on way!
I'll stick with oem balast till they die.

Also adding fogs and led's H11's at the same time!

I guess if it dies later and I need to replace pulling the bumper off again doesn't look too bad!

Thanks All

I have had this combo for several months. Works great. And brighter than CBI according to TRS.
