2004 TL Problems - Do Consumers Have Rights

Bought my TL in late March - in the shop 4 times already for over 10 days. Interior noise issues and my check engine light has come on twice and service dep said they have no clue as to why. Noises - dash (have to replace something to do with the wipper assembly - part on national back order so I have to go back AGAIN!!) - Headliner above driver and passenger doors (still making noise) - rear deck assembly (and that is still not correct) and the passenger map compartment door had to be replaced.

Dealer stance is it is my car, I bought it so it is my problem - they will be happy to privide me with service on any issues that come up but that is it. Based on what I have already dealt with and what I expect to come up now that I know these issues are prevalent with this car, I would have never made this purchase.

Here we go again. Two posts, the other one being a variation of this one. I would guess maybe 1 in 20 people who do this are legit - the rest lying clowns. Who can tell?

The dealer is right. It's your problem. My front fenders came off and, during an aggressive debadging attempt, my trunk became imbedded in the moonroof. Only 41 more months on my lease, so I'm happy. You should be too.

I would love for this to not be legit - would be happy to send you any information you would like to prove it - It is very frustrating to own 3 Hondas that you drove very hard, never have any problems, move up to a TL and start feeling like you just bought a Chevy.

that's what warranties are for. try owning a Mexican-Built Volkswagen or American-Built Mercedes, then we'll talk about issues.

I've had the same experience with my TL, although no check engine light issues. I must have been to various dealers over 20 times in the past 4 months fixing interior fit and finish issues. Rattles, drooping headliners, crackling door panels... etc. I'd be interested to hear if consumers have any rights in this area.

Check engine light came on again on my way home from work. All times it has been in Manual in 2nd gear - first two times it took it up over 5500 RPMs and then took my foot off the gas when it happend - this time I just stayed in 2nd at about 4000 RPMs and it started flashing in about 20 seconds - tried it again, same thing. I guess I get to look forward to more fun in the RSX loaner car :banghead:

It is always great paying for a $30K+ car that is in the shop while you drive a beat to shit piece of junk as a loaner car. You must work in the car business to have that opion. Anyway, I owened a 2002 Jetta VR6 and had even worse issues with that car so I took a bath on it after a year. You would think that manufaturers would be help to a little higher standard that this. Needless to say, I expected a bit more from Acura even on a brand new model. I guess that is why I am so disapointed.

hey, I had the yellow light problem.

Came on many times, and they don't give a s*it about it.

I finnaly got it fixed ( it seems)..

To get it fixed I had to print all the GA lemon law forms, fill them up and bring them to the manager of the dealer, saying: This is what I am ready to do. Are you doing something to prevent me from doing this? He then decided to do something ( that was my 7th visit to the same dealer, with the same problem.)

They kept my car for 20 DAYS after that, replaced some sensor from the cam area and it came back fine. Now it seems to be a little advanced. I wonder if they just advanced the time so it doesn't misfire.. I don't really know deeply about this stuff.. But I know the car is advanced..

Now , I have some horrible noises from my window, when rolling down, not to mention wind noises.. Really loud!

My bluetooth works when it wants to, and the voice recognition, well, forget about it...

There is something also very annoying... The brakes stick.. they stick bad.. in case you need to brakle suddenyl, then you want to let go so the car behind doesn't get you, you take your foot off, and the pedal stays down.. anyone else feels that?

When I first told the dealer about this, they said that I probably just needed an updated software that fixed an issue of the light coming on in manual mode at over 5500 rpms. I said great, easy fix. WRONG - I already have the latest SW. They told me the computer did not register anything so I should keep an eye on it (as if I would miss it) and let them know if it happens again. So, I guess it is my turn to print out the lemon laws and hold the dealers balls to the fire.

I guess you must really want to keep this car - after 7 visits and 20 days in the shop with a brand new car, I would have got a lawyer.
