2004 TL problem starting

just wondering if there are any other TL owners out there having problems starting the car. this happened to me about 6 times since i've had the car in 4 weeks. i turn the key and the engine cranks but won't start. i let it crank for about 4-5 sec and then release it back out of position. crank it again and it fires right up. i talked to the dealer and they say it may be the same problem they have on the MDX's. they say sometimes the computer is not sensing the code on the key and it enables the ignition kill. they told me to turn the key to the second position for a couple seconds before i crank the engine.

The manual states that the longer starts are due to the computer. It's trying to make sure that the engine burns cleanly. Check the manual.

Same problem here....apparently it's inherent with the ULEV cars....nothing to worry about. I too was wondering about this back in February when I got my TL and had it checked out but it has to do with the ULEV.

yup these fellas are right the car might do it from time to time due to ULEV. what i would do is put the key in and turn to the acc position and wait maybe 1-2 secs then try to start the car. it has almost always started on 1-2 turns for me.

This is normal to 04TL... not the failure caused by Acura...

Welcome to the forum. Tons of "supposed to be weird or eccentric" issues/problems you've found on your 04TL could be just a normal or characteristic issues of Honda/Acura.

You should be able to learn a lots from this forum...
