Aziners, I am deeply disappointed bc HeelToe Automotive doesn't do the switchblade keys anymore. I sent in my key a little over a month ago but earlier today Marcus of HeelToe said they stopped making the keys. Refunds will be provided but I really wanted switchblade keys for my 05. I need some help! My question to the community, Does anyone else on here do the Switchblade key process? I will use PayPal to pay!

It's the 2nd link yes it works perfectly. But I decided to take the key and have Acura program it. I probably paid close to $200 when it was all said and done. For me having a fully functional products means more to me then the money I spent

Can't you get someone locally (locksmith) to program it? Dealer charges alot.
Yes you can. But make sure you find a dealer that know what there doing I tried 2 before I went to the dealer and both of them could not get it to work properly.
Yeah not really lazy... eBay can be a crapshoot so if someone has had good experience with a buyer, I'd want to use them rather than just someone I found in the search results.

And he mentioned he spent $130. Go to ebay, find auctions right around $130. Done.
Sure it takes some critical thinking and i'm sure spoonfeeding is easier but c'mon... that's total laziness.
He is the only person on Ebay that is selling a switchblade key for an 04-06 Acura TL for that price point. I make it a point to do the research myself Though I have no problem when it comes to researching for others.I would consider myself to be an expert researcher. That's why I love paypal. I have had to use the claims department more time than I would have liked too but in 14 yrs of using paypal all claims have been in my favor

i got mine done from this guy over 2 years ago... process took about 1.5 weeks.. i would recommend him and the work they do, i havent had a problem with mine since the day i got it
No, the locksmith has loose, like separate transponders . The one in the switchblade is not usable , its not compatable.
So instead of buying a regular replacement key and hacking it, he already has transponders available and programming is 40. Said no charge for the transponder .
Just posted mine, 30 on amazon. They are awesome, any little problem they replace it.

Question the one's on Ebay come with the old style key. I would assume your came with the new style?. did the locksmith have some old style keys? I was trying to get a driver 2 key done up. And Marcus told me that he did not have any keys for sale
OK so an update, no. Whole thing fell apart. I'm part way there, he'll make me a copy of my factory key, but can't mill the blank in the SB.
so, if I want to go the really custom route and do some rebuilding, I might. I need a spare anyway. Wasn't as easy as I thought. But, it will get done!

You order the keyfob from them, go get it cut at a locksmith or dealer for FREE. Have the dealer program your ECU (price ranges from dealers $60-$120). Program the keyfob remote for FREE at home or ask your dealer for them to do it for you if you don't want to learn a simple sequence of holding buttons.
Option 2: Buy the switchblade above, except save yourself the money of having the dealer program your ECU.
This method requires you cut up your existing 04-06 TL key, disassemble your switchblade key, and put the immobilizer chip from your original key to the switchblade key.

I'm opting for option 3.
new factory v chipped key is 10 bucks shipped. And 10th cut, after the key is ready I'll swap it into the blade, if that's successful , I'll get the chip programmed for 40.
I exposed the key from the bottom, thereby leaving the internal structure and shape intact. Then just insert a rolled paper in the hole, and build the bottom back up, file and sand to rough finished dims, and repaint. Viola.

Mine is fine inside , completely untouched.
All I did, was remove 1/16th off the bottom of the key to expose the blank enough to pop it out.
borrowed this pic from the DIY:
When I rebuild, I'll use something like a chapstick lid , drill a pilot hole in the cap, then use a screw up through a piece of cardboard, or whatever to hold the cap centered overy the hole. Then ad JB to fill any orifice about an 1/16th OVER factory finished dimension, and machine it back to spec. Paint marker the exposed edge and call it a day. Might
bond a new 1/16th abs piece to it and trim the excess. I'll dicide as I go.
Stretch the spring a bit under the release button, and add some vasiline to lube the contacts .
Even now, cut the way it is, it still has a nice clean positive click into its locked positions .
only thing I'm putting thought into is the rotation stop that's in the blank. When I get the new key, if I can't heat and beat the key material over where the blank rot. stop is, I might silver solder a piece of the excess key material into place, and just rework it to include the right dims, and retain the STOP functionality.
Slightly off topic, I'm new and I have tried searching I can't really find my answer, I have a 2008 TL-S, but I only have 1 key, it is the switch blade key but it is falling apart. Can I purchase a 2004-06 key and have it programed for the 07-08 since I have seen people using the 07-08 key for their 04-07 figured it was possible? Also I read somewhere we can use the 03-07 Accord key? I apologize if this has been covered just trying to sort things out as all the threads I have read don't have a definitive answer.
Well, if the key itself is good, you can swap it into the same switchblade that we've been talking about for 33 posts , in this thread alone.
30 bucks. No cut , no program.
If you really wanted,you can get a regular key made, like this..
and get a fob, 20ish bucks.
buuuut, that's assuming the older fob will communicate, and that you can find that key with your type transponder in it. And you'd still need to have it programmed and cut. 50 more bucks. So about 80 total.
Since there was never a switchblade key for an 04 06 tl, and the fact that it's 40 shipped it's safe to assume it's not oem.
But programs and functions fine.
Props to the guy who cut his key in half. I do NOT have the balls to do this. I also don't have a vise, which will help tremendously. GREAT STUFF GUYS!!
