2003 tls vs 2005 tl

Personally I would go with the 02-03 TL-S over a 04+ TL 5AT if they both left the shifters in auto mode. The 04+ TL's upshift early. The TL-S would upshift at redline. If both raced in manual mode then its a drivers race for sure.
This is funny. You have two people that have personally beat a 2G TL-S with a 3G TL yet people continue with their theories on how the 2G will come out on top. I could care less, both cars are slow, but I find it amusing.
its a luxury car, how fast you want it to be? get an M5 if u want more power

so yup. the 2nd Gen TL-S takes it
Well regardless of how slow they are, I have an 03 TL-S and I've beaten an 04. SatinSilverAv6 is also right, the 04 shifted to second gear maybe a full second before me.. I won by about half a car. i could see his car the whole run.

M5 is not fast.
Well I guese we just have to agree to disagree
M5 may not be as fast to you but its faster than the TL
Not sure how fast you want to go in a luxury car. Consider the E-class Brabus if thats still not fast enough start looking into time travel.

We are comparing the 2g TL-S and the 3g TL. Who cares if they are both slow, but that's what we're comparing. Nobody is saying it runs 10 seconds in a 1/4.
M5 isnt fast!?!?! i mean i know it isnt as fast as your GN but give it some credit lol. i think any sedan thats in the 12's straight from factory should be considered fast but then again i guess your entitled to your own opinion
LOL. Just trying to ruffle some feathers. M5 is fast for a factory street car, it's just not something I would take out to the races and bet money on.
After riding in a friend's Brabus T-12 CL65 nothing else will do. 704hp in a luxury car is what it's all about. We took it to the track with the tags still on it and managed an 11.9 on street tries. Not too bad. Probabaly an 11.50 car with some tire on it.
Just to let you know, the 2gen TL-S's can be faster than the 3rd gen TL. The reason behind that is because the 2nd gen's can hold their 1st to redline, whereas the 3rd gen TL's automatically shift frmo 1st to 2nd gear like a couple hundred RPM's before redline..
The also have gateshifting which may help..
As for the M5 not being fast, it's fast stock. try racing the M5 vs your GN, when put to stock. That' is just as stupid as comparing 70's car into the 2000's.. both are in different leagues.
we can finally agree on something (Brabus) LOL

its took a v12 biturbo to get this guys interest.
Whew!!!!!!!!
Were you in the car for the 11.9 run? Weight palys a role in 1/4 mile times.

I drove it on that run. The owner went 12.0 on the first run of the night. My 60' was crap, 2.2 going from memory but it trapped right at 120mph so the power was there.
CL-S's will walk you, lol. Bad drivers these days attempting to "race" just kill everything, making you "think" you walked them.

Stock for stock, one is a 13 second car and the other is a 12 second car. Throw $200 in mods at both and you've got a driver's race.
I care more about what I can do on the street or 1/4 mile. Where will you ever be able to really tap into the top speed or cornering potential of the M5 in normal driving? Acceleration on the other hand can be had every day on the way to work.
$200 will do alot more for the GN that it will for the M5

thanks!
